Trying to reach superbovine. Your reply was extreamly helpful. My next question is if the water pump need to replaced (again :( it was replaced 4 years ago) Will I need a new thermastat too? Also, if it the coolant flange, will the discharge be a redish/pink as well? Thanks Karri

If discharge of coolant if reddish is an indication of rust. Just drain out the entire coolant and then fill with water & a solvent to remove as much deposits, both from the radiator & engine. You will need to start the vehicle once so that the mixture is evenly spread. After letting the mixture drain this too, start the vehicle and wash the solution out by inserting a garden hose with the outlet of the hose inserted at the radiator cap. At the same time keep the engine idling & the water flowing. When clear water is pouring out from the draining point. Put off the the engine and let it drain completely. After this fill in fresh coolant & distilled water mixture to the normal level.
The pump, if still working - leave it alone. If the engine starts over heating again, then change the water pump.
If temp shown by the gauge/meter displays rise & fall of temp., then let the thermostat remain, however since that is a critical indicator of engine heat, I would definitely recommend changing the thermostat so that you be sure how it responds and take action promptly...........sodeep

I HAVE A 1989 FORD ECONOLINE 350 MNIMOTOR HOME THAT RUNS EXTREAMLY HOT. WAS TOLD I NEED TO CHANGE THEWATER PUMP. DOES THAT SOUND RESONALBE?

Only if you have first checked that the thermostat is Ok and there is no blockage in the radiator. You can usually tell if the thermostat opens as the top hose gets very hot and the temperature dips. What was the basis for the water pump diagnosis? Maybe it's a common failure but I would want to know if the stat was opening first. You can check it by putting it in a pan on the stove with a thermometer and see what temp it opens, usually about 85-90 degrees
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

My toyota EE111 car is getting some chattering sound from engine side when it trying to overtake other vehicle or when it is driving with 3-4 passengers in the car.give me some reply

check water pump, usually give an unusual sound coming from the engine, try shaking the pump with the engine off, if you feel a vibration, its a positive thing that the water pump bearings are gone, or worn out.

I need help with my 93 lesabre, im trying to replace the water pump and 1 bolt is impossible to get so im trying to take off the engine mount to reach it... is there an easier way?

Do you have the new water pump in front of you to reference the bolt holes. I'm not sure why you think you need to remove the engine mount.

How do i remove fan clutch while it is connected to water pump on the vehicle?

There are usually 4 bolts that hold the clutch to the water pump shaft. It's often an awkward process to hold the shaft from turning while you remove the bolts, but it can be done.
There is a tool available to assist in holding the shaft in place. Most auto parts store will allow you to "borrow" the tool if they have one available. I used a pipe wrench when I did it, but the clearance is difficult.
As a note: when you replace the water pump, replace the thermostat at the same time as you will have the needed clearance to reach it.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

Need instructions on how to replace water pump on a 1990 checvy lumina avp

The water pump is located on the right side of the engine. This is facing the car from the front. Remove the three bolts that connect the belt guard. They will need a 10mm socket or wrench.
Next, remove the belt. You can do this by reaching down under to the belt tension pully and lifting it up with a wrench. This will make the belt loose enough for you to remove it. Usually as in my case the belt was broken anyway. If so you can skip this step, but remember it when replacing the belt.

Next hold the water pump pulley with a block of wood or something that will keep it from turning. Remove the four bolts that hold the pulley on and take the pulley off. Next you must remove the 5 bolts that hold the water pump on. You will need a 8mm socket or wrench to do this.

After the bolts are removed you must pry the pump loose with a screwdriver or bar. The pump will come off. You must clean the old gasket material off the housing. Now you are ready to install the new pump.

Just do things in the reverse order and you will be done. Replace the belt and check for leaks, add antifreeze in needed. See how easy it was. Saved yourself a few dollars also.
