Question about 1995 GMC Sierra

1 Answer

My heater motor will not come on. I have replaced

1995 GMC Sierra PU, 4 wheel drive, 5.7L, automatic. My heater motor will not come on. I have replaced the blower, and a relay. The heater switch appears to work, but the fan does not come on. In the on position and pushing the AC switch, in the compressor engages.
A local parts store has told me the resistor has gone out. It looks like some heater elements. But I (1) question this as fact and (2) where does it go in the system as I have not found it in my Haynes repair manual??

Thank You,

Bill

1995 GMC Sierra fan blower not working.

In the beginning you should check for voltage and ground.
The 50amp fuse marked AC powers the blower motor and the motor is grounded.
The high speed relay bypasses the resistor. So you should have power coming from the fuse and thru the high relay. Then the resistor for the other speeds gets power from the heat and ac control module which also controls the blend doors.
You may need a shop manual or repair book to get the diagrams.

Where is the heater resistor switch for a 1995 gmc sierra

Its located behind glove box on top of heater just to the left of blower motor. If you take off the glove box door ( glove box and door one unit) you will see it on top of heater box.

1990 gmc 1500 heater motor does not turn on

The fan switch itself is a possibility, but there is also a resistor pack behind the glove compartment. Hi speed doesn't use the resistors, though, so if it doesn't run on hi, it narrows it down to the switch, the motor, the motor ground, or the blower relay, or any of the associated wire connectors.
