Question about 2000 Pontiac Sunfire

1 Answer

My sunfire GT will randomly not start. I never know when it is not going to start. When it randomly doesn't start i get someone to help and give me a boost. As soon as it starts up, the car will run forever. One time I drove it about 3 hrs and then next time i go to turn it on, nothing. It has no consistency either, as to when it will or will not start. Does anyone have any idea??? Ive also bought a new battery. Sometimes the signal lights will flash for a second, but also has no consistency. Maybe wiring connection problems?? Any Ideas?????????

You need to get your starter checked or just replace the the starter solenoid or starter brush holder assembly.the signal light thing may be due to a high resistance in the wire ends that bolt to the starter solenoid.either way you need to check out the starter and the wireing to it.

Hi i have an 00 pontiac sunfire gt could someone

hi ok the way i always did it was keep car in park pop hood and first move car backwards and see movement of the engine see if there is excessive play should only move about 1-3 inched then pull the car forwards and see how much movement in the engine if there is more one way or the other that will help show you where to start looking if it flopps both ways then you prolly got both bad but 9 times out of ten it is the trans mounts in the front by the radiator.

It sounds like a bad clutch or clutch cable that is either stretched or out of adjustment! Or a hydrolic clutch line that has gone bad!

02 pontiac sunfire won't crank at random times

Hi, I had the same problem with my girlfriend's 97' sunfire, it wouldn't start so I jumped the starter terminals which I think screwed it up even more (causing the theftlock light to come on). It turns out this is a common problem that can be solved by hooking up a GM Tech2 scanner, going under "body" codes, and following the instructions for bypassing the PASS LOCK SOLENOID. Hope you find this helpful, Byron
