I can not shut off my blower motor. I was told

I can not shut off my blower motor. I was told that the relay was behind a panel above the moter. I bought a new blower moter relay from GM. when I remove the old relay the motor continues to run. Is there another power source?

    Thanks Tarren

I could have used a more descriptive answer and I do not know how to access the diagram you mention. When I asked if there was a secondary power source, is your answer "Yes". If I am enterpreting your answer correctly, you are indicating that power can flow through this "ECC Power Module", bypassing the relay? Or are you saying the heater relay is not the source of power to the blower motor?

I am new at your site so I probobly need instruction in accessing the diagram you mention.

    Thanks Taran

I will try to get a module tomarrow - There is some type of problem with your illustration. The illustration of the firewall is compleatly different with only, maybe 2 or 3 items in the right place. The illustration seems to display an arrangement for a rear drive Cadillac. Further it does not show the module, it shows the modual connector which is not very helpful in locating the module.

When I purchase one if it is available, I will then know what it looks like.

This usually indicates failed ECC power module.

The location of ECC is as follows :-

The electronic climate control power module. It is located on the rear fire wall in the engine compartment to the right of the blower is a diagram, the module is #7 .

    Thanks for your response!!

I have seen in the past, people came up with a problem specially on Cadillac De-ville that blower motor is constantly running and more often we have found an issue with ECC module.

Blower Motor would constantly run , if Power Module is at fault.

I have given you certain diagrams. You need to copy the below link and paste it in the browser to have a complete look. I can also insert the diagram here, but that might be too small to understand. Still , let me do that for you.

Location on YOUR MODEL - It is located under the hood on the passenger side on the blower housing.

Let me know, if need further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

2003 chevy avalance a/c blower moter runs with ignition shut off

If you have the automatic climate control and the blower motor won't shut off then you have a failing Blower motor speed control module. Something inside this module goes bad and the result is a blower motor that keeps running at times even though the engine is off and the key is out of the ignition. The module isn't repairable but has to be replaced. I believe it is located behind the passenger side of the dash panel.

How do you change a heater blower moter in a 1998 Dodge grand caravan

Removal & Installation

The blower motor is located behind the glovebox, behind the blower motor cover

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable, then wait 2 minutes before proceeding with the removal. This will effectively disable the air bag system preventing possible personal injury.
  2. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel.
  3. Remove the A/C-heater blower motor cover.
  4. Disconnect the blower motor wiring connector.
  5. Remove the blower motor wiring grommet and feed the wiring through the blower motor housing.
  6. Remove the blower motor mounting screws.

Once the cover is removed, unplug the electrical connector and push it through the opening in the housing

The blower motor is secured to the housing with three small screws

  1. Allow the blower motor assembly to drop downward to clear the instrument panel and remove from vehicle.
To install:
  1. Place the blower motor assembly into position on the A/C-heater unit and tighten the mounting screws.
  2. Route the blower motor wiring through the blower motor housing and seat the wiring grommet in the hole of the blower motor housing.
  3. Reconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
  4. Install the A/C-heater blower motor cover.
  5. Install the glove box into the instrument panel.
  6. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Check blower motor operation.

Heater blower motor just quit working during heavy rain.checked all fuses glove box and under hood;gm told me it was a relay behind the blower motor 1992 Chrysler new yorker salon how do i replace...

The rain had nothing to do with it. What ever GM told you was a quess, unless they worked on it. You never change parts until you know their bad. Have to at least know how to test relay, if you do find it. Stop by dealer, they will come out and remove it for free

Neither the front nor the rear blower moters run.

First lets deal with front blower. If all fuses checked, there should be a resistor block (which when it goes usually leaves you with high fan only) for fan located on firewall, under the hood on passenger side behind the front strut mount area. It measures 1-1/2" x 3" approx, and will have a wire connector on it. It usually pulls out, with a bit of a fight. Disconnect your battery neg(-) just to be safe before you do. Replace it, that should cure front blower problem. (about $20 at autoparts store) Ask them for "blower motor resistor pack) very common item so they should know what your talking about.

Brushes on the motor may be going bad. Blower motor is in engine compartment under wiper motor assembly. The blower motor regulator is under the blower motor. There is an A/C relay behind the fuse box under the screwed down cover.
for lack of motor speed its probably the brushes on the motor or the regulator. If no cold air your charge is probably to low to engage the compressor.
