Getting spark also? Is the cam to crank timing good, and you have the distributor correct, and not 180 degrees off?

I have a 94 plymouth voyager i had to replace the waterpump and fuel pump now it wont start it cranks over but wont start any ideas ??

Hi phcr7566...

Disconnect your fuel line from your carburator and put a container to catch the fuel as you crank your engine...
You are doing this to make sure you are getting fuel to the carb from the new fuel pump you installed...because you might be "air bound"...not allowing the fuel pump to pump fuel to the carb.If your getting fuel to the carb, them make sure the float in the carb is not stuck and not allowing any fuel to get to the engine.

Engine cranks but will not start

Sounds like a dead or weak battery, you tell us that is new, then maybe a problem with connections at battery or starter contacts. Check all connections and make sure there is no corrosion built up at battery terminals. Charge battery or try jumping. If even dont work, check starter, starter solenoid or ignition switch.
You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing...
- Spark
- Fuel
- Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.

Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Toyota corolla diesel with turbo wont start already genera overhaul, 4 new pistion, spark plug, glow plug( heater) all are new n fuel pump ia working fine but still wont start any suggestion pls...

i could suggest you to look your fuel line and the fuel filter if are free from any restrictions and if the line has a solid line of fuel(no air). air on the filter or on the line, engine really wont start.
and this assume engine timing is ok?

Owner's manuals usually have a page with such information, sometimes dealers have older manuals laying around, try a wrecking yard., unless you mean a schematic, in which case you should get a Chiltons or Motors repair manual (try the library)

To start up a cold engine requires reach mixture (air-gas).In your case it seems like the choke is not working ,so cold engine cannot start. If it is an injection operated system then it must have a temperature sensor which suppose to turn the choking on when cold engine needs to get started.Either the sensor is faulty or the choke or between the two there is a faulty connection somewhere.
