Sounds like a failed speed sensor, a cheap part for you to check out.
click the live help button on their site to verify the part and condition you are having. its possible to be a bad ecu but lets hope it;s just a speed sensor. the pulse signal from the ecu is used to control several devices, odometer, speedometer and cruse control are a few you know of already good luck.
