This is normal because when you unlock to car with the remote it disables the imoblizer so that you can start your car.

Cheers,

Toon.

The doors will not lock or unlock from the door but will from the remote?

The title suggest the door won't unlock unless the remote is used but during the summer it was the inverse. If while inside the car the doors will not lock or unlock from the door but will from the remote then you have a faulty switch. If while outside the car the key turns while in the lock but the door won't lock or unlock then the linkage at the end of the lock is faulty. You'll need to remove the door inside plate to check this.

Just replaced the battery, now the car won't start unless I lock/unlock the doors using the key fob. How do I set it back to work the way it used to?

You most likely have an aftermarket fob and remote start unit. What is the brand on the back of your key fob?You will have to get the proper reset and registration procedures for the particular unit installed in your car to make your key work normally.

The keyless remote fob for my AU Ford ute wont unlock the passenger door unless I press the button twice

Most remotes are designed to operate that way for saftey. Most Fords that I have worked on operate that way. Press the button once to unlock the driver's door, press it twice to unlock the other doors.
This allows drivers to enter their door without wondering if someone is ducked down on the other side of the car ready to jump in when they hear the door unlock.

If your key has been working in some other way, and just started doing that, I am sorry, but, in all cases I'm aware of that's normal.

I hope this helps.

Remote goes off continueouslly and unless battery cable remove won't stop. Also, vechicle won't start.

Some Jeep models have the ability to reset the alarm by following this procedure. Connect the battery cables and allow the antitheft alarm to trigger (usually horn honking and lights flashing). Use your ignition key to lock, unlock, lock and unlock the passenger front door. This should reset the system to be used normally. If your key fob is the problem, remove batteries to stop alarm trigger and have dealership test and/or replace fob. Hope this helps.

My 97 Tahoe wont start unless I hit unlock on remote. Is this factory?

Yes, this is normal. The vehicle has an immobilizer as part of the antitheft package. Hitting unlock not only unlocks the doors, but also disables the immobilizer feature.
