I have tried that with no success. when the lock button is pushed, the front doors lock but not the rear. when the rear is manually locked they will unlock with the fob and/or the driver's door switch.

    any more ideas?

  • red_newby Oct 02, 2009

the strange part is, both of the rear door locks are in-op (to lock). is there a single wire that feeds both rear doors or a common fuse for the rear locks? are the lock and unlock seperate solenoids?

  • red_newby Oct 02, 2009

2003 GMC sierra, rear door locks (elec.) will not lock with the fob or the driver's door switch but will unlock with both.
is the locking solenoid on a seperate circuit or could this be a fuse issue?

  • red_newby Oct 02, 2009

I think we are on the right track. In the fuse block there is a large black fuse or relay, I'm not sure which, that is labled "lock" that in the diagram shows that it contains 5 fuses? Is this fuse/relay replaceable? I've tugged on it and don't want to force it for fear of breaking either the panel or the fuse.

I have tried every combination I can think of and have read the owner's manual for programming the lock seoections.

When the key fob is used there is no actuator noise in the rear doors, same thing with the driver's door switch....nothing locks the rear doors but when manually lock they respond to bothe the fob and the driver's door switch.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

One of the rear doors does not lock easily using the manual lever so I expect your thoughts are correct. Your insigh was very most helpful.

There's a linkage rod connected to an electric solenoid that pushes or pulls the rod to lock or unlock each door.I've found that sometimes when this happens either the rod is loosened from the lock lever, the plug is loose on the solenoid or the rod is bent and only works one way ( lock or just unlock). You'll have to take off the interrior door panel, work the door lock button, you'll see if its fully pushing the lever. You can even grab the rod with your hand and lock and unlock it.If it's bent straighten it and push the lock button again. Also check the electric plug in the solenoid.

Try pressing down drivers lock manually, while pressing door lock button for all doors at same time.

Mervia. Why is central locking not locking any door?

It's only an educated guess. If all other locks switches are working it' either the switch panel itself or an electrical short. Switches are popular, get it checked first

Bmw drivers door only wont lock/unlock with key fob

Could be your driver door lock mechanism that is going bad , since the other door are working, it cannot be the fob. I would try to change the driver side door latch mechanism.

Doors dont lock with secrity fob

The receiver for the fobs is located in the rear hatch, and it needs to be reprogrammed to the fobs. Try the following procedure;

1. Close all the vehicle doors.
2. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
3. Press and hold the door unlock switch.
4. While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle
the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.
5. Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to
confirm the program mode.
6. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button
simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15
seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of
that transmitter.
7. Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters.
8. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the
keyless entry transmitter mode.
9. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct
system operation.

Automatic door locks will not lock rear doors, they open fine when manually locked but will not lock with switch key fob or when put in gear.

You mean that the central locking system will not lock the rear doors but you can do so manually.

Get inside the vehicle and close all doors.

On each rear door, lock and unlock the mechanism manually a couple of times. In other words do not use the key pad.

Then leave both rear doors in the locked position (manual locking) and operate the lock button on you key pad to operate the central locking system. Wait a few seconds then hit unlock on your key pad and a few seconds later hit lock on your key pad.

If the system fails to lock your rear doors you will need to get the vehicle to an auto electrician to check out the issue and rectify it for you. There are a number of possible causes which cannot be identified without physically checking the system. So you will need to have this rectified by a professional.

My 2003 Honda CRV ...drivers side door does not lock with fob. All other doors lock. When I lock the drivers side door with the key, it won't unlock with the fob.

you may need to replace the door locking actuator, they do tend to go bad over times. does the driver side door lock automatic when using the lock button on the driver side. if you can lock and unlock the driver side door with a switch, my guess would not be the locking actuator, it might be in the remote locking module.

Power door locks won't unlock + tailgate won't open

your issue involves the master control switch panel on the drivers side and or the passenger side as well some how the contact inside the switch assembly has either shorted out or no longer makes contact for the unlock side of the circuit. replace the drivers side panel switchs it's either a series of switc hs or mostimes one sigle board of switchs. you are better off going to an auto parts store rather than a GM dealership this will save you quite a bit on cash on the parts. now as to the rear tailgate. if it is electronic controled and there is an issue with the master switch you can,t manually unlock it because of a safty issue built in the system. you can manually unlock the passenger compartment doors for thew same reasons of safety but doesn't apply to the tailgate. just replace the parts and this will take care of the problem

Drivers side rear door lock inoperative

You need to replace the electric solenoid/actuator for the door lock. The door panel pulls off very easily.
