My Dodge caravan will not start when cold.

the entire system must be in good working condition for a vehicle to start in cold weather. Strong battery, clean cable connections at the battery, good starter, clean/gapped plugs, clean injectors, good plug wires, clean fuel filter, clean air filer, and good gas. If a vehicle sits with a partially filled tank for long periods, condensation can form in the tank and freeze. Use gas line antiifreeze in the winter.

you have to drain the gas tank completely, and the fuel lines, and the bowl on the carb. Good luck with that. I would also pull the plugs, spray WD40 down into the cylinders spin the engine fora while with the starter and hope the moisture gets blown out.

1998 FWD Nissan - drivingg down the road, the truck just stopped running. It tries to turn over. Battery is fine, spark plugs changed out. Coult it be a fuel pump? Also, brand new transmission.

Possibility of alternator, starter, check the easy things first, Fuel pump? take the filter off hold hose if gas is coming out of hose pump is working? I had a similar problem with my 300zx. It was the starter. I dropped the gas tank and cleaned out and sprayed w/air hose carefully the pump just in case there was any debris, still not working, it ended up being the starter. Trust me before u drop a gas tank check the EASY stuff first. Hope this helps

My Saturn has been sitting in my driveway for about a year and a half. We just replaced the battery and the fuel filter and when I try to start the car, the engine turns over, starts for a minute, and then...

If the gas in tank is that old you need to drain it. Once you have good new, clean fuel in tank. Turn key to run position,(do not energize starter just want red lights on dash to come on) listen for fuelpump whine. It will shut off. Turn key off.Turn key to run again, listen for fuelpump again. Turn off key again. Repeat this procedure total 5 times. On last time turn key to engage starter. It should build up enough pressure & fuel & start right up.

Ok i have a 1996 olds aurora its been sitting up for 6 months.i just replaced spark plugs, wire, etc. i started it with starter fluid & it started. then i pressed on the gas then the car cut off. it has...

There might be a good chance the gas may have turned in to varnish. If the gas has turning in to varnish, try to drain the gas tank and run high octane with fuel injector cleaner through the system. Gas that has turned in to varnish will gum up the fuel line and injectors, causing major repairs in cleaning out the fuel system. Good luck and hope this helps. This is old school way to cleaning out the system is to add Acetone to fresh gas in the tank and running it through. Acetone (paint thinner) would use that to go drag racing to bring up the octane, but that's a secrete. Keep me posted and then replace the fuel filter after you run most of the gas through.

Unsolved Problem!

Have you looked at the gas or gas tank. It could be full of water. Your specific pump could be sitting up high where the gas water line settles after a period of time. Try some dry gas and run the tank out.

dirty or build up keep injectors from closing.they still be leaking fuel while engine off causing flooding.so clean injectors.fill gas tank put a bottle injector cleaner in tank or have them professionally cleaned at garage.

1989 tempo 2.3 4 cyl 5 speed, runs w/ starter fluid

Hi, The carb is gummed up from sitting. The best solution is to take it apart and clean it. The starter fluid indicates that it has clogged jets or stuck floats. The good news is that if it cranks with the starter fluid everything else is probably OK. Good Luck!
