U can't do this at home, it requires a GM dealer special scanner called a Tech 2, sorry.

How do i replace ign. switch on a 99 alero

TO REMOVE IGNITION.FIRST TURN OFF RADIO.TO KEEP FROM LOCKING IT OUT.REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.WAIT 20 MINUTES.THIS WILL DISABLE AIRBAGS.ALLOW THEM TO DISCHARGE.NOW YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.REMOVE THE TWO SCREWS SECURING THE IGNITION SWITCH.PUSH THE SWITCH ABOUT 1 INCH STRAIGHT BACK TO CLEAR THE MOUNTING BRACKET THEN LIFT IT UP AND OUT FROM BEHIND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.DISCONNECT THE IGNITION SWITCH ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS AND THE IGNITION INTERLOCK CABLE.USING THE KEY TURN THE LOCK CYLINDER TO RUN AND PRESS IN THE PIN TO RELEASE THE CYLINDER THEN WITHDRAW THE CYLINDER WITH THE KEY.THE CYLINDER MUST BE REMOVED TO REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT WIRE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH. IN ORDER FOR CAR TO START YOU HAVE TO REPROGRAM NEW IGNITION SWITCH TO THE BCM AND PCM.TO DO THIS.TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO THE ON POSITION WITH ENGINE OFF FOR 10 MINUTES WATCH THE SECURITY LIGHT. WHEN SECURITY LIGHT EXTINGUISH.TURN OFF SWITCH FOR 5 SECONDS THEN START THE ENGINE.IF STILL DONT WORK TRY THIS PROCEDURE TWO MORE TIMES.IF YOU GET CAR RUNNING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURN ON CHECK FOR CODES P1630 P1631 P1632 USE CODE SCAN TO ERASE CODES IF CODES REMAIN LET DEALERSHIP CHECK IT OUT.THEY WILL HAVE TO ERASE CODES AND REPROGRAM THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM.

Is there any way I can unlock the anti-theft feature on the car

no. this is part of the ignition system. if its not allowing you to start it then either your ignition switch has gone bad requiring you to replace the ignition switch and key and having it reprogrammed or the body control module has failed requiring replacement and reprogramming. hope this helps

Need to replace ignition on chevy malibu

You first pop off the ignition ring (black part) then take off the center dash trim around the radio (grey plastic) un plug the lighter remove two 5/16 screws that hold the radio in slide the radio out and you can access the harness and switch there.

Hope this gets you started!!!

I put a ignition switch in my 1999 chevrolet malibu and when I try to start it, it want crank the theft switch keep blinking,

The new ignition you installed needs to be programmed to the vehicle. A series of cycling on and off. The procedure has to be precise on timing or it will not program at all.

2003 chevy malibu won't start and seems to be with the fuel pump

Try this I got it from the emission wiz
Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. This relearns your key to the ignition it started with Gm cars and trucks from 1999 to to 2006. It is a big problem but there is no recall that I know of. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys
