Question about Ford Focus

2 Answers

I have a 2006 Ford Focus. The Headlights come on when I turn on the Ignition and stay on until I switch the Car off. The Light switch has no effect whatsoever. Can anybody tell me how I can remove the light switch which has a levelling item for the Lamps on the same unit. I was going to fit a S/H unit to see if this would cure the problem

Guys. If the Switch was operating properly I would have an option to have my Parking lights on. What I have on are my "Full Headlights" and the Light Switch will not turn them on with or without the Key in the Ignition. The question I am asking is "how do I remove the Light Switch so that I can replace it with another one and see if that cures the problem".

    Thank you for your replies.

Kev,
This is normal for that vehicle.
It is for safely during the daytime. It is called DRL (Daytime Running Lamps). You can pull the DRL fuse and no harm will happen; however, you should allow them to stay on.
You may have noticed two things:
1. The lights are somewhat dim and not full brightness (normal).
2. Look around when you drive, many cars have DRL...

Im not to familiar with the newer fords but this may not be a problem at all. Most newer cars have headlights that always stay on. Call a Ford service center to see if your car has this type of system. Hope this helps

Headlights stay on, ignition turned off

If you turn car off and remove key from ignition, th? headlights will stay on until you open the driver side door, its part of an auto on headlight system. you can leave your selector light switch on the headlight position or on the daylight lamp relay (DRL) position. and open the driver side door and the lights will go out and not stay on. so it saves running your battery down. That feature is only on SLE trim line on the Solara.

Car will not start when key is turned to start position Battery is at Full charge and the idiot lights come on what is the problem I think it is a faulty switch but I'm just quessing, would that be a...

Turn ON headlights and try to start car.

Headlights stay lit, no change in brightness means an open relay.
Start car in Neutral, or move gear shift in and out of Park and try to start in Park; otherwise it is the ignition relay switch or the starter solenoid.

Headlights dim slightly: Low battery charge

Headlights dim significantly or shut off completely: Battery cable connections are really dirty. Remove cables from battery and clean cable clamps and battery posts. You may not need to boost to start.

Hope this helps!

Push the lever forward to turn on high beams, if they do not work when you do this. You need a new high/low beam switch.

2009 ford focus dome light stays on

Are you sure that the thumb wheel switch beside the headlamp switch is not turned all the way up until it clicks?
If it is staying on for 10 minutes this means that the smart junction box is seeing a demand for the interior lights from something like a door ajar switch or the thumb wheel. If it sees that the igntion is in the off position it will turn the lights off after 10 minutes to conserve battery power.
Normal operation is:
The interior lighting delay feature provides temporary illumination of the courtesy lamps after the doors are opened and then closed. The interior lighting delay feature keeps the courtesy lamps on for a period of 25 seconds after all the doors are closed. If during the 25-second delay time the SJB detects that the ignition has been switched out of off, or if the vehicle is locked using the RKE, the courtesy lamp illumination is discontinued

Interior dome light stays on while driving

Your dome light switch in in front of the driver's seat where the headlights are. It is possible that switch is bad as it should be both a turn knob switch, and by pulling on it, it becomes a head light switch. You may have to replace it.
