I'm missing something here. The problem is likely the wiring harness as you say. To access that you have to remove the door panel. I offered to give further help if you wanted it.

I'm volunteering my time to help, and I get this kind of rating. Please tell me how you think I should have answered your question.

Window problem

Might want to check the doors with the problem windows for a broken wire from the door to the door jam.

The window lock switch is a single circuit to all the other windows, so if there was a problem with it, none of the window controls would work ( but the driver's side would still operate them ).

The other place to check for a broken wire is the driver's side door to a-pillar harness. The circuits for the other windows run through the driver's side switch. Could be a wire in the driver's side door harness.

The other item could be the driver's side switch, the contacts will get carbon built up on them, and the windows will not operate anymore.
This is what mine looked like when the driver's side window stopped working ( lower left hand corner of the picture is the driver's side window switch, note the carbon build up on the contacts )

I would start with checking for broken wires, by metering the window switch for power.

The back passenger's window switch should be getting power & ground on the white w/ yellow stripe wire and the tan w/ light blue stripe wire.
in the "at rest" position on the driver's side switch, these are supplying ground to the power window, and power is being applied to the other side of the motor ( depending on direction of travel ).

2004 saturn ion driver power windows switch will not work. Fuse good and passenger window switch works. The switch unit is good had a new on put on still did now work. Problems seems to be in wiring after...

Pull the rubber boot for the wiring harness in the door hinge area. I would suspect cut wires. Have the same issue. Bad design. What else is new.

Drivers power window won't work. Is there a fuse?

If the driver's window doesn't work, but the other windows work, it wouldn't be a fues. Depending on how old the vehicle is the opening and shutting takes a toll on the harnesses. You might open the door and take you hand (while attempting to open the window) and jickle the wiring harness coming out of the door. If this works, you will need to take that harness apart and see which wire or wires are cracked. I would suggest soidering them rather than **** end connectors if this proves to be your problem. If not you will need to go into the door and test for power coming to the motor while engaging the switch...keep hands clear of all moving devices in door. Good luck.

The power windows will sporadically work. Now, the driver's side window is stuck in the down position and I can't get it up. The other windows will not work, either, although they are in the up position.

If all of windows have failed at the same time it will likely be a fuse that has blown. I suspect that the motor and/or mechanism for the driver's window may have worn to the point that it is creating high resistance that has blown the fuse.
