Question about 2009 Buick Enclave

1 Answer

Terrible wind buffeting noise with rear windows-both Buick and dealership insist we pay for the fix as described in #PIT4355B as "helicopter type" noise. Unbelievable. Sounds like tire is falling off the car!!! What horrible customer service. Just purchased the vehicle....

This is not a little noise, big noise and big vibration, anyone who has heard it, can not believe it. I have the info from GM on it. There is a problem with this and it should not be fixed my expense.

Here's the info from GM:

Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment of a helicopter type noise when a rear window is lowered. This is known as buffeting and it is a low frequency, high volume wind noise that may occur in a moving vehicle with a rear window open.

Recommendation/Instructions:
This is a normal characteristic of this vehicle, but the concern can be minimized by lowering a front door glass approximately 1 to 2 inches. Installation of accessory weather deflectors along the front door glass may also be effective in alleviating the buffeting noise. Seems to me there's nothing to pay for with this info. This is common in alot of vehicles I've dealt with in my career. I'd say if the dealer wanted you to pay for them to tell you that, maybe you should find help somewhere else.
The Enclave is a really nice vehicle. Don't let poor customer service from a dealer discourage you from enjoying your car.

My 2017 Buick LaCross has the capless gas tank, the gas shuts off every few seconds when you attempt to put gas into.Dealership can't find the problem.

The EVAP system tank vent valve may be blocked or not operating properly causing the problem you are dealing with . Being this new I would insist the dealership diagnose and fix this issue .

Noise moon roof while driving with the moon roof open

Unfortunately the car's Japanese not German...ahem.
We find with our RX that if you fully open it, and then slide it about an inch forward it stops the buffeting. Another alternative is open a window slightly.

I would suggest a good wind deflector like the Zefferus windscreen or something to get rid of the bogeys of wind noise and buffeting.

Same here, just aerodynamics. You might try a side window deflector on each front edge window.

I have a 2005 A8 with a speed controlled wind diverter on the sun roof. When you slow down or speed up it moves and makes an awful racket....it moves which is good...it looks like there are two bars that...

I just brought my 2005 Audi A8 in for the same problem and it is the springs for the track operation and since my car is covered under the warranty, I will pay my 100 deductible and the balance is 30.00 for the warranty company so I would say it will cost you 130.00 at the dealership to fix this issue. Mine was making the same noise you described. I hope this helps.

2002 buick rendezvous groans when turning

The fluid in the versa trak AWD in the rear is old and needs to be drained and refilled. After you drain and refill it, make a bunch of sharp left and right hand turns, then drive it for 10 minutes. Drain and refill it for the second time and problem solved. Use only versa trak fluid available at any GM dealership. There is TSB on this now at the Buick dealership.

Wind Buffeting on 2010 Toyota Camry

that is just the way the car is built, the newer cars with the aerodynamics set the way they are will have a buffering sound if only front or only rear windows are open, like you said the only way to negate that noise is to open the front windows a crack, its a characteristic of the vehicle, many new cars do that.
