If u can reach up carefully to back of dash along upper steering column u can feel and probably see the cable unscrew the cable from back of the spedo and guide it down open hood slowly pull cable thru firewall its under brake master cylinder or from inside slowly push thru firewall under vehicle at rear of transmission is the other connection unscrew with the new one slide shaft into trans might have to wiggle a bit than tighten reroute cable thru firewall be careful of shaft up behind dash reconnect done

There is a gear that drives the sensor gear much like the old speedo cable gear.
If you connected the sensor and the check engine light went off, chances are the sensor is working.

Speedometer and curise control work only part of the time

Well the cruise won't work if the speedo doesn't work and I would say that you have a bad vehicle speed sensor.

Speedo doesnt work

Speedometer Cable REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Reach behind the speedometer and depress the retaining clip. Pull the cable from the casing. If the cable is broken, raise the car and disconnect the cable at the transmission. Lubricate only the bottom 3⁄4 of the cable core with speedometer cable lubricant. Reconnect all parts.

Curise control does not work wanted to check the fuse but cant find it

You might want to check to see if it was disabled by Ford first. Ford had a major recall on Curise controls in these vehicles and many were disabled while parts were being ordered. You should be able to stop by a Ford dealer and let them check by Vin to see if yours has had the recall done. If not it may save you some money and get it back working and working safely when they do the recall work on it. Ford did the recall due to the curise controls activating by them selves if I understood the dealer correctly when he did my mothers vehicle. Did not cost anything for the recall work and this includes even if you were not the original owner and purchased it used.

1987 comanche speedo doesnt work

Gear is right inside where the cable attaches to trans. You will loose some fluid so have a pan handy.
The drive gear is inside the trans but usually is ok. some gears are not centered in the cover. to install, push in and then turn the cover till contact is made with internal gear, then turn back a tiny bit to prevent binding, then lock it down.

Curise control quit working, '98 C 1500 Suburban

First off CK your curise control throttle cable. You should start at the throttle body where the two cables connect to it. (throttle and cruise control cables) This is where I have found is the most common problem is located. Make sure the curise cable is connected and not broken or cut. I have found this to be a very common problem.
If you find them intact. Then its too easy from there. Just trace the cable back to the electric motor that works the cable and so forth. From my experiance your problem is mechanical not electrical.
