Check the computer ground at the battery.if it gets corrodid,you won't get spark or fuel.There could be other componets also causing your problem.

1991 Dodge Dakota fuel pump wireing. I removed pump and tested OK- Tried switching relays (all same in relay box) Still no cycling only a slight noise then silent. Ran 12-v (spiced) to left wire of 5.


engine cranking do you have spark at the plugs and fuel injector pulse? I don't know what testing you have done? I am trying to decide if more than one issue? Did you check voltage and ground at fuel pump connector, engine cranking? Initial prime is one thing but after that, if no rpm signal, no spark--no fuel injector pulse--no fuel pump. W/o rpm signal computer won't ground the asd relay. Any applicable trouble codes?
In my opinion, you can't bench test a fuel pump, I've seen faulty fuel pumps that would run up a storm on the bench but make no pressure when in the gas tank.

Your question states that the fuel pump is good. If you are sure that your fuel pump is good, then it's time to look into your "fuel injector not spraying". Also check all your fuses. It would suck if it's just a fuse :-). Go to your local parts place like advance or autozone and pick up what is called a noid light. This little light plugs into the connector that plugs to the injector. Crank the engine and see if the light flashes when you crank. If the light flashes, check a few others to make sure they work also. That means you're getting an injector pulse and they should be spraying. Look into a fuel pressure problem. If the light does not flash, obviously you are not getting an injector pulse. The sensors that would affect an injector pulse are cam sensors or ignition module. You vehicle may have one or both of them. The crank sensor contributes to spark and cam sensor to injector pulse. Check that you have crank signal also in case you gave multiple problems. Those sensors send signals to the computer but ultimately the injectors get their signal from the computer. If all else is good then it's possible that you may have a bad EM (computer). Further diagnostics may be necessary to determine that. I hope this information has helped some. Good luck.

There isn't a fuel shut-off switch.
Note the wiring diagram, check check voltage and ground for fuel pump motor.
Are you missing anything else, such as spark and fuel injector pulse. A missing rpm signal from crank sensor will cause several problems as mentioned and may shut down the fuel pump as well. If fuel pump the only problem, no, it's not the rpm signal.

What is year--make--model?
Usually if no spark, no fuel pressure, and especially no injector pulse, I check for rpm signal. The rpm signal comes from crank sensor. Don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction.
I have to ask, how long since a tune-up?
Are there any applicable trouble codes?
Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good.

With engine cranking, if no spark at the spark plugs and no fuel injector pulse along with no fuel pump action, have to check rpm signal.
If you have spark and fuel injector pulse but, no fuel pump action, then we check the fuel pump circuit. Did you check applicable fuse, not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage. At the fuel pump connector, gray wire is voltage for fuel pump motor and black wire is ground.

1991 chevy lumina will crank but wont start I checked the fuel pressure it squirts out good and the fuel pump sounds strong I checked spark on the coil its sparking good! I charged the battery its fully...


If you have spark at all the plugs, the crank sensor should be ok. You should use a gage to check fuel pressure? I don't know engine size? For the 3.1L engine, my info says 40--46 psi.
It is possible to have spark at the plugs, but, the computer doesn't see rpm signal. If that is the case, no fuel injector pulse. The purple wire with white tracer carries rpm signal from ignition module to pcm, that wire has dc pulse, engine cranking. If nothing there, have to check ignition module.
How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes?

2.5L Engines
On the 2.5L 4cylinder engine the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor is located in the distributor.
The sensor contains a Hall effect device called a sync signal generator to generate a fuel sync signal. This sync signal generator detects a rotating pulse ring (shutter) on the distributor shaft. The pulse ring rotates 180 degrees through the sync signal generator. Its signal is used in conjunction with the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor to differentiate between fuel injection and spark events. It is also used to synchronize the fuel injectors with their respective cylinders.
When the leading edge of the pulse ring (shutter) enters the sync signal generator, the following occurs: The interruption of magnetic field causes the voltage to switch high resulting in a sync signal of approximately 5 volts. When the trailing edge of the pulse ring (shutter) leaves the sync signal generator, the following occurs: The change of the magnetic field causes the sync signal voltage to switch low to 0 volts. 4.0L

The tone wheel is located at the front of the camshaft for the right cylinder head. As the tone wheel rotates, the notches pass through the sync signal generator. The CMP sensor is used in conjunction with the crankshaft position sensor to differentiate between fuel injection and spark events. It is also used to synchronize the fuel injectors with their respective cylinders. The sensor generates electrical pulses. These pulses (signals) are sent to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM will then determine crankshaft position from both the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor.
The tone wheel is located at the front of the camshaft (2). As the tone wheel rotates, notches (3) pass through the sync signal generator.
When the cam gear is rotating, the sensor will detect the notches. Input voltage from the sensor to the PCM will then switch from a low (approximately 0.3 volts) to a high (approximately 5 volts). When the sensor detects a notch has passed, the input voltage switches back low to approximately 0.3 voltsthe CMP sensor is used in conjunction with the crankshaft position sensor to differentiate between fuel injection and spark events. 2006 beetle no start no spark or injector pulse. Replaced crank sensor , no luck. Fuel pump runs.


No spark no injector pulse your saying you check pulse. With the key in the igition is there a key sign flashing and does the key have a battery for alarm. For the fuel pump to operate it need a crank signal so you got the crank correct but no spark so the crank works. Can you check the ignition for pulse you know how it is shape its curved on one side staight on the other side well the curve side and at that end is the ground after that on is the control from ECM. If you can check pulse there then we can go to the ECM . What I am trying to get at is this your alarm is the only thing beside the ECM that can cause this.

Has all power and still wont start it has a spark it is a 2.5 4 cylinder 1996 the spark is wite i checked the timming could it be the crank positioner


Check the timing belt they are known to loose teeth and slip when old I've seen them be in perfect timing on the wrong cylinder! 80k /belt
