If the fuel pump module is heating up it is usually because of a faulty ground. Verify or relocate the ground wire if necessary.

2005 silverado hot to replace fuel pump asssembly

Hello: , remove the lock ring holding the fuel pump module in the top of the tank and remove the fuel pump module being careful not to bend/break the fuel level sender float assembly. To do the above you have to remove the gas tank from the truck.

Have troble starting engine after letting seat for a while with unit hot have change fuel regulator next to intake and change out body trodel position sensor

You need to check fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge. The regulator is a good guess but the fuel pump can also be letting fuel pressure drop. Once fuel pressure drops on a hot engine the fuel in the fuel rail will boil and essentially be a vapor lock condition. Fuel pressure should be around 56 psi and hold steady for at least 45 minute to an hour. If it drops within a couple of minutes to check valve in the pump is probably bad and the fuel pump module will need to be replaced.

The other thing, when you replaced the fuel pressure regulotar is is possible that you did not get all the old pieces from the old regulator out of the fuel rail. It is common for the screen and o-ring from the old regulator to stay in the fuel rail and they need to be removed carefully with a small pick.

2001 chevy silverado 2500 hd, 6.0, replaced fuel pump and it will not start. Put a light tester to the wire harness and it is not getting power. cheked the relay and it works. is there anything else that...

If you are sure the fuel pump relay is working, check continuity from the pump to the relay socket. These wires love to corrode. When you turn your ignition on, the fuel pump will only run for a couple seconds before it shuts off via the automatic shutdown relay. Make sure you are checking power within this window. The PCM (powertrain control module) is what completes the ground in order for the relay to send power to the pump. If the PCM does not recieve a signal from several sensors (mainly the Crank Sensor) it will not turn on the pump. You may want to check these sensors, is the check engine light on? You can scan it to see if any sensors have thrown a code. Be sure all applicable fuses are ok, the PCM may have its own fuse, check that even if the fuel pump fuse is ok. Your Truck may also have an inertia switch for the fuel pump which shuts it off during an accident. Check that as well.

Fuel sensor gauge

you will need to replace the fuel level sensor.(sending unit) it is in the tank and is hooked to the fuel pump. you can buy seperatly from pump. you may finf it easier to remove the bed if you have some help. it is six or eight bolts and harness unplugs then you can get right to it.
