Question about 1989 Lincoln Continental

Car won't lift

Although the compressor turns on for appx. 3 minutes every time I turn on the ignition on my '92 towncar, the car stays low. It started losing height a month ago, now I'm down to the ground. is a leak the most probable cause? I don't hear any air coming out of the bags.

If the compressor keeps running, it is a leak. If the compressor shuts off, it is something else.
You can damage the metal parts in the suspension by driving the car without support.

There are adjustment solenoids for each corner of the car and it is best to have the car on an alignment rack or body shop floor that is used for straightening collision damage. The floor to body height is measured when the solenoids are adjusted.

Since your problem is showing on all four corners of your car the problem is the pump or close to the pump. The pump is cutting off too soon at too low of a pressure. Your pump needs testing. There are computer hookups which can diagnose the problem if you have the right test equipment.

The dealer should have the equipment. You would have to call around to alignment shops to know if they have the test equipment.

Sounds like the anti theft system is active m try this process. Turn the key on. Do not attempt to start. Wait 10 minutes. Turn key off. Turn key on. Wit for theft light to go off. Now attempt to start.

Instructions
    • 1 Attempt to start the car. If it does not start, or dies very quickly after it started, then leave the key in the ignition in the "ON" position and wait 10 minutes. Make sure the security light is flashing. After 10 minutes the security light will stop flashing and either turn off or stay on steadily. When it does, then turn the ignition off, wait 20 seconds and attempt to restart the car.
    • 2 Repeat this procedure three times in quick succession without removing the key from the ignition.
    • 3 Start the car following the third 10-minute waiting period. The car should start and stay on. If it stays running, then the codes have been relearned and the problem is solved. If the car still does not start then you may need to have all or part of the passlock system replaced

My 2005 chevy impala won't start since someone broke into my car


i would say when the person broke into your car they set off the security system which stops the car from starting, the way to reset the security is to put your key into the ignition turn the key until all the dash lights come on and let them stay on about 15 minutes after the 15 minutes have expired turn the key off and wait about 3 seconds and then your car should start. hope this helps.

yes possible.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

Starter will not engage anti theft light is on it is a 2005 cobalt


I found this on a website try this

1. Put the newly cut Master key into the keyway and turn it to the ON (RUN) position. A "security" indicator
light on the dashboard will stay on for 10 minutes.
2. Within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON (RUN)
position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes (Do not remove the key.)
3. Again, within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON
(RUN) position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes. (Do not remove the key.)
4. When the light goes off the third time, the new key is programmed into the computer and will start
the car. Remove the key and then re-insert it into the ignition lock and start the car.
All previously stored codes will be erased. To stop the process at any time, simply remove the key and use
an existing key to start the car.

Air suspension


Sounds like you have a hole or cracks in your airbag. This causes the compressor to work double time eventually killing the compressor as well. I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and taking a look at the town car conversion kits. They convert you from air to powder coated, American made steel coil springs that are guaranteed to last the life of the car. I posted the link below so you can take a look.

My battery light is staying on in my 92 lincoln towncar


Get out a volt meter, With the car not started check the battery you should be getting round 12volts.

Now turn the engine and check the terminals again you should be seeing about 13-14 volts. If its high it means the regulator on the Alternater has gone and it wont charge the battery because to much going to it and that would cause other eletrical issues, and if its low your looking round the same problem with the Alt.

Also check the serpenteine*sp is not to worn as it wouldnt be turning the pulleys as good and would cause issues as things can't work correctly.
