The earth is under the trim below the lamp, otherwise It is probably a badly fitted or wrong bulb.

Hi my Renault megane coupe rear lights flash when indicate our touch the brakes also fog light symbol comes on the dash with brakes and indicates??

Hi you have a bad earth or relay on the system some where.
just to aliminate a couple of things to see if the back boards(clusters)are ok just undo the plug with the cables the light board on one side onlyand try to see if when you put the ignition on there is eney change when you use the opposit brake or flasher, then do the same with the other side,if you notice when you do this that when one of the boards is removed that the other side seems to work ok its proberly the light board(cluster board gone,if not you will have to look at the front, sorry I cant help more, its not as easy as it would be with the car infront of me,all the best.

Megane coupe 1999 rear fog indicator comes on when brakes pressed, fogs don't work or high level brake light.

I have the similar problem with my 2000 model. On mine I have narrowed it down to the rear light cluster on the right as you look at it from the rear (drivers side in the UK). Here's how I fix mine, although it does keep happening every now and again:
Remove the lights cover from inside the boot, it is held in place by a couple of plastic nuts.
Remove the strip of lights that are clipped into place.
There is an electrical connector block attached to the now removed light cluster. Undo this and the whole set of lights will be free.
Where the connector block fits to the light cluster clean all of the terminals. I use one of my wifes nail emery boards.
Make sure the female connectors on the connector block are all fairly snug so when put back together it is a tight fit.
Clean with electrical contact cleaner if you have any (not really necessary but I had some anyway).
Reconnect the block and test your lights, put back together.
I suspect it is an earth fault but I ran a separate earth to the unit but it didn't improve.
Other faults I noticed is the rear wiper operates when the front one only is on and I touch the brakes. Also when I lock the car when the indicators flash to show it is locked the rear high level brake lights flash as well. I was thinking of trying another light cluster, but 25 pounds from a breakers yard seems a little steep for a minor irritation.

I have a 94 gmc 1500 pickup the tail lights are back feeding in to brake lights. i have a brake controler that lights dim when i turn on the tail lights. or if i turn on the flashers tail lights get brite...

this looks like earth bleed.

this happens if one of the lights can not find earth so it bleeds through the next light to its earth thus lighting the wrong lights.

ensure the earthing to the lights is good.
Q. have any of the light cluster front or rear been replaced at any time since the problem started? it could be that the chassis earthing was not replaced on replacement of the light fittings.

find the chassis earth lead or connection point, ensure a good clean fit and maybe use some WD40 to ensure a good connection of the nut or clip. the earthing maybe part of the securing screws or bolts that hold the light in place.

I hope this was useful.

2000 Renault Scenic 1.4. The indicators left & right work correctly however when I apply the footbrake all 4 indicators come on as well as the stop lights. What is causing this problem.

Check the bulbs in the back lights as i suspect you have a wrong bulb fitted ,remove each bulb in each cluster in turn and look in the bulb holder as i think that you may have a single pole bulb in a double pole bulb holder ,if this checks out ok then check the earth on each rear light cluster as a non earth connection could also cause this problem, but i suspect a incorrect bulb in the wrong holder

Turn signals don't flash when braking 99 grand marquis

Check all earth wires on all lights.
most lights in cars run in series so if u loose one you loose the other mainly caused by bad earth on globe holders or corrosion where bulb sits.
little sand paper goes a long way.
