Not disconnectable. This is a mandated feature for 08 and up cars in the US, thanks to the Firestone Wilderness AT fiasco. There's sensors in the wheels that came with the car, they should be installed into your new wheels.

You need wheels that accept the TPMS-Tire Pressure Monitoring System valve assy. You will not pass inspection if the computer is not in a ready mode when you show up for insp. Any professional business that does tire sales knows this.

Ad air into your tires (evenly). After that you need to reset the tire pressure (cpu) to read your tire pressure accurately.
Underneath your steering wheel is a button. Press and hold this button for about 5 seconds then release it. The "check tire pressure" like should start blinking and then turn off. You need to drive at least 8 miles before the computer will let you know for sure if you need to put more air in one of your tires. Also the check tire pressure light only comes on if your tires are about 8 psi apart. Hope this helps.

Low tire pressure warning

Look under the steering wheel~way up under the dash there is on some Pontiacs a reset button. It is usually yellow. If this does not work you can try disconnecting the battery to clear the ECM.
