SOURCE: 1990 eclipse gs turbo starts & idles wont go past 2500rpms

you have a boostleak, i build gsx's my roommate owns 4g63 power, give me your email er cell and i will send you a boost leak detector you hook up to the turbo inlet and shoot pressurized air into it and if you have a boostleak it will leak out of the engine somewhere that is your leak you replace the seal or hose and blauw the car is fixed, hook me up with blue feedback since im going this far out of my way. the reason you cant get past 2500rpm is because unmeetered air is being let in post maf sensor and the ecu is trying to richen up the engine which is causing the black smoke and probably a strong smell of fuel. my current dsm is the 9th one ive owned =) they break alot lol easy fix though.

SOURCE: diagnostic fault p2263

It sounds like the intake on your turbo is not opening up like it should. I recommend you to get it look at more closely or get it replaced.

Have you checked the PCV system?? If its stuck in the closed position then you will lack power and turbo boost. A vehicle needs 3 things to make it run proper; FUEL,FIRE and AIR. Try that and see if it helps.

Engine management light on ,car still runs perfect

check for fault codes in ecm at a guess knowing this model well it will have logged a code for heated oxy sensor faults sometimes you clear the codes and they dont come back.if the light comes back then one or more sensors are faulty more than likely open cicuit heater element in the sensors there are 2 or 4 sensors on that engine depending on market spec. the norm is 4 you can compare the sensors with a multimeter to locate the faulty ones ideally you need a wiring diagram to do this. genuine jaguar ones are expensive i have changed all 4 in the past to cure this problem at a cost off over 1000 pounds the other likley causes are throttle body problems and air leaks but you normally get restricted performance warning showing hope this helps been a jag tech for almost 50years

Vehicle has loss of power when accelerating

The 100 series td is boost limited for 1st gear , this was a factory design to stop consumers getting overexcited at the traffic lights etc! If you think you are getting no power or boost in first (which would be odd) then connect a boost gauge to the turbo pressure vsv (vacum switching valve) on the intake manifold to see what sort of pressure you are getting.
All this can get a little bit involved ie type of motor 1hdt,1hd-fte etc etc, repost if you need further.
