Instructions
Things You'll Need:

  • Screwdrivers
  • Wiring harness adaptor
  • Hyundai radio adaptor kit
  1. Open the coin holder and remove the two screws at the front. Pry the trim from around the gearshift lever and unhook the power wire to the cigarette lighter.
  2. Locate and remove the two screws from the bottom of the radio trim panel. Look for the screws, attached to a rod, below the glove box. Unhook the cable from the rod and pull the rod free.
  3. Place the shifter into "D" and slide the radio trim panel away from the dash. Locate the four screws at the front and sides of the stereo and remove them.
  4. Pull the stereo out of the Hyundai Sonata dash and disconnect the wires from the back of the unit. Connect the wiring harness adaptor to the original harness.
  5. Slide the new head unit into the Hyundai radio adaptor kit. Attach the wiring harness adaptor and antenna wire to the back of the new head unit and push the entire assembly into the dash.
  6. Secure the stereo in place with the four front and side screws and turn it on. Verify all of the speakers and features are working. Reattach the radio trim panel, insert the rod back into cable assembly and secure the trim around the gear shift.

Abs and tcs lights on what do they stand for?

ABS stands for anti lock brake system.
TCS stands for traction control system.

I recommend having your abs system diagnosed for faulty sensors, control module, etc. With the abs light on the traction control system is designed to disable because it utilizes the abs system to automatically help control your vehicle in loss of traction situations.

2001 hyundai sonata wiring diagram

You don't required to search for the wiring diaghram. These are standard in the wiring harness from the manufacturer. You need to look for the socket which may folded inside the console in front of you. Fix the audio in position and connect the cable socket for your new audio.

Where can i find the amp on an 03 sonata

They really hide it. It's bolted to the body on the right side between the trunk and the rear seat, near the right rear wheel well. You get to it by removing the trunkliner - trim in that region. Good luck!
P.S. Careful, many Hyundai / Kia audio systems are 2 ohm, not 4 ohm like most modern car audio systems.

How to remove radio from 2001 sonata

The trim snaps in, no screws! I have used a hook type screwdriver, the kind used to install springs... I carefully insert the tool between the lower left corner of the radio and the bezel. Rotate the tool 90 degrees toward the bezel and pull straight out. Id say it comes off with maybe 15 pounds of pulling force. The radio is screwed in with brackets. You'll see once the bezel is off. **Keep in mind that many Optimas use an external amp located between the right rear door and wheel well. Also, some use 2 ohm speakers, all the way around. You may need to change all of it to upgrade your sound system2_bing.gif, I did**. Good luck!

XM Radio in 2008 Hyundai Sonata sounds bad

Same problem here. I repeatedly complained to XM but got no reply. I listen to XM in 2009 Sonata and it was just as bad.

XM is better than AM. Much worse than FM.

Bulb replacement in hyndai sonata high mounted rear stoplight

Research revealed no available illustration of procedure. If memory serves, there are two 'access' plates on either side of the lamp assy (popped out with small screwdriver) and two phillps screws retaining the assy in place. Remove the access plates (plastic) and the screws behind them.. access is gained.
