Question about GMC K2500

1 Answer

My 1992 k2500 4=4 c/w 5.7 runs very rough on start up. It sputters and misses and stalls at times. The vacuum is very low as the breaks are weak at this time. The engine warning dose not come on . Runs well when warmed up.

Check the vacuum booster by purchasing a hand pump vacuum leak down tester disconnect the vacuum booster vacuum line from engine and pump up the handle on the tester to acheive at tleast 15 lbs of vacuum then stop pumping the gauge needle should not come down if it does the vacuum booster must be replace its internal rubber diaphram has a leak this would explain the poor or weak brake performance.

Car wont stay running and run rough and exhaust smells. When i go fast it runs good but when i run it slow or stop for the light it runs ruff and then stalls...

There are many things that can cause this. The MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor may be dirty. A slight vacuum leak can cause low RPM stumble (check with a vacuum gauge). There are other possibilities such as weak ignition coils or a low voltage condition in the ignition system.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

1992 Chevy S10 2.5L-4 cylinder. just started today outta no were. it idles really rough and pops then when i step on the gas it sputters and pops also smokes a little. help please..

My 1990 S10 pick-up had a similar problem too. It would start up fine (while the engine was cold) then once the engine warmed up it would idle very rough, sputter, and even stall out. My grandpa and I found what was wrong finally. The fuel distributor had been cracked, so when the engine warmed up it would miss (giving either too much or not enough fuel). So I recommend that you check that. Hope this helps.

92 lumina apv stalls after sitting short time

here are some signs of a bad fuel pressure regulator: the vehicle runs rough, the engine will not start(usually in morning) MANY TIMES ENGINE STARTS BUT STALLS SHORTLY AFTER STARTING. a bad regulator can result in fouled spark plus, and fuel milage will decrease noticeably. the only cure is to replace regulator. what makes it fail usually it gets a tear in the diafram and it cant maintain fuel pressure. hope this helps toolman,
