Question about 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Fan for the a/c - heat will only work on high.

The fan for the a/c - heat will only work on high (4). Occasionally it will work on 1 or 2 but eventually stops. It will not work on 3 for anything.

The a/c & heat both work just fine but I only have the one fan speed.

I found my resistor, it was very accessible as it was kind of under and behind the glove box.

I unbolted it and attempted to unplug and then decided to try the fan and see if it would work. It did - on all four speeds. I tried different speeds, turned the vehicle on and off and tried it again and it works fine. I have not reinstalled the resistor yet as I did think that I could smell what seemed like wires burning or maybe like the smell of burnt hair in a hair dryer odor.

I didn't see any smoke and all the wires going into the resistor plug seem intact. I figure I will go ahead and replace the resistor just to be safe but could this be an indicator of why the resistor itself went bad?

I got the resistor unplugged only to find one of the connectors burnt on the inside and the same with the plug containing all the wires. There is one connector or what ever you call it that is burnt looking and kinda frazzled. I'm not sure if the wiring harness can be replaced easily or not. I traced it out and it meets up with another plug so I don't know. Can anyone help?

Common issue for many cars, Jeeps big time. Your "Blower Motor Resister" is defective. The reason for only 4 on the speed is the resistor controls the voltage going to the blower motor on the lower three speeds. This is a common problem, don't let anyone tell you it is the blower moter itself. The part should cost between $20-$40, depending on where purchased. The killer is getting it installed, some are easy to get at behind the glove box, others are up in the dashboard harder to get at. Chevy techs should be well aware of this, and be able to give you a good estimate of repair.

Air condition and heat won't work

Check to see if you are getting voltage to the blower motor if you are the motor is bad if not check the fan speed switch. 1 2 3 or low medium high if you get voltage going to the switch but not from replace the switch if you have voltage from switch check the blower motor resistor the although with the blower resistor you commonly have a high fan speed in the max setting and the lower speed settings don't work wich would make you think 1 2 3 are not working but 4 is. That is why it is best to check all parts to make sure the part you do replace needed to be replaced

The AC blows on #4 fan setting but doesn't blow at all on 1-3

That is the blower resistor. 4 is wide open, so, no resistance. I had 4 of them put into my truck. The wires were burnt and shorted the others until the problem was found. Check the plug if you do this yourself.

for the fan blower motor it could be the resistor or the fan control speed control switch is bad.for no lights replace the DRL RELAY for the lights. for the heated seats check the fuses.

Blower fan only works on high

If it is working at all then the relay and fuse is good and the problem is either the little vacuum hose on the back of the control switch panel or the panel itself.

Hyundai coupe r/h drive heater

hi from uk your heater fan problem is most likely to be what is known as the resistor pack sometimes called the reostat and is connected to fan motor case it has the wires for fan connected this unit operates rather like an elec hob controlling amount of heat if this simplifies it for you? speeds 1 2 3and 4 gives the speed selected on fan control knob not too difficult to find and diy a replacement? and not too expensive ? these units do burn out occasionally on most cars as they age hope this helps/inspires ?
