Is your clutch pedal spongy if it is a hydraulic clutch there will be a small resivoir on the fire wall next to the brake master cylinder,if so check the fluid level, the noise your describing sounds like drive shaft u-joints,or cv axle drive shafts in front if its 4 wheel drive, block the wheels and put the truck in neutral,to release any tension on the drive shaft,go underneath, grab the driveshaft a foot behind the transmission, and push up an pull down on it while observing the u-joint in front of it if there is any looseness or play it is damaged, any movement up and down or left and right requires replacement,do the same to the other end at the rear axle, the rear axle u-joint is the most common failure, but check them both,

I have a 99 GMC sierra with a 4.8L 4L60E trans and its not shifting in to 3rd or 4th gear does fine from 1st to 2nd any tips

THe 4l60 is an electronic produced shift trany, It sounds like the place to start, is to see if you can shift it manually. Starting out in first and work your way up as the vehile speed increases. I have a question for you. Did this problem occur all at once or over time? I would say most common reason is shift solinoid problem, But could be many other reasons like, sticking valve in valvebody, bent or worn linkage, improper fliud pressure to pistons, etc. with your help and imput we can probably narrow the problems solution down.

After sitting in garage unused for 2 weeks 2008 gmc sierra 2wd starts fine, but ABS light stays on, in D clunks into gear then check engine light came on. 18000 miles. had no issues when parked

That is really low mileage for issues but clunking into gear is a symptom of a bad universal joint on your drive shaft. Does it clunk in D and R?

2005 Corolla's manual trasmission shifts gears, it clunks

hi mate , sounds like the SPIGOT bearing its a little bearing that allows the gearbox to be at a different seed than the engine flywheel and if this is in bad condition it will take the gearbox front shaft to a higher speed than comfortable for gearshift , in the meantime when you go for 1st or reverse gear just engage a gear like 4th without taking your foot off the clutch and then go for 1st or reverse, this will stop the gearbox spining long enough for a smooth shif, oNLY USE THIS METHOD WHILE STaTIONARY and see a professional when you get time.

2005 GMC Sierra 1500 - heater blows, but only cold air

Check coolant level. Check for heat at the heater hose going from water pump to heater core at firewall. Check to see that cable is moving coolant control valve from the closed to open position. Low mileage so it shouldn't be plugged heater core.

Sounds like your torque converter is going out. If it is that when you go to shift the transmission is not getting enough fluid to keep the parts moving in the transmission. The clunks it the gears freeing up and smashing into the right position. I had a similiar thing happen to me with my old truck. That sounds like the problem you are having, but I could be wrong. I sure way to tell is to check you transmission fluid and see if brown or black. If its one of those the colors the transmission fluid is burnt up. Usually the trans fluid is red. Hope that helps.

The mechanic should check on the steering gears and the shaft. To find out if needing to replace gears and to check if needing to replace steering shaft .
