Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle... .OR... Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

What is csusing an intermittent starting problem with my Elantra?

If the starter motor won't crank, then check voltage and ground circuits at the starter motor, when problem is ongoing. Any testing at the starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and the parking brake is set.
Unless you can do some testing, I'm not sure how to help?

Want start, turn key on you get power but want turn over, have checked batt, alt, start motor? would t be the ignition

Hello rhw... It could be simply that the car isn't fully in park. Go out to the vehicle with the key. Turn it to on and put it in neutral. Then use some force to jam it into park. Then try to start it. Repeat if necessary. Joe

My 2001 aurora will sometimes not start in park

the neutral safety switch may be bad or out of adjustment. if switch is bad, no voltage will go through it in park to start car. you can also check to make sure it is going all the way into park.

2001 toyota sequoia- car won't start on park.. but starts on neutral...mechanic says it's the neutral safety switch..it is??

sounds like park safety switch, there are 2 switches 1 neutral and 1 park, if it starts in neutral,it is working,if in park, and does not start usually means bad switch or wire off.

My 2001 porsche boxter S 3.2 will not start in park, but will start normally in neutral, does anyone know why? (it's an automatic)

1.Shifter linkage could be out of adjustment, and not allowing the Neutral safety switch to be bypassed, when in the Park position.

The shift linkage, could move the arm of the neutral safety switch far enough, to bypass it when the shifter is in Neutral, but not far enough when the shifter is in Park.

2.Perhaps the Neutral safety switch is bad, or has come loose on it's mount, and is out of position.

2004 hyundai elantra starter

You culd be having more than one problem. First if you are having problem putting the car in park. The car may not actually be fully in park and therefore the neutral safety switch is active and telling to car you are in revers or in gear. If this is true then your car won't start for safety reasons. Try putting it in Neutral and see if it starts then. Ormay have a neutal safety switch that is bad. Can you hear the starter click when you turn the key to start?
