Like gasoline vehicles it is located inside the fuel tank. However, I have never replaced one on a diesel but a gasoline it is easier to remove the bed than it is to drop the tank unless the tank is empty. Your bed and tank are bigger either way.

I have 1982 Chevy luv pick up it is leaking diesel fuel on the right front of motor under what I think is the injector pump any ideas on fixing it

fixing diesel fuel pumps is a specialist job
It could be a control shaft seal that is a problem( small lip type seal)
I recommend that you seek professional advice as to the fix from an accredited diesel specialist shop
It could be an on pump fix or it may require the pump out to fix but that can be discussed at the meet with the specialist

If the pick-up filter is located at the front of the tank and the tank is almost empty the pump would starve for fuel.

Where is the fuel pump located on a 2006 chevy silverado

Gonna go out on a limb here and say inside the fuel tank, like the other 99% of the cars on the road today, unless it is a diesel.

Why does my ford f350 6.0 diesel start then shuts off and wont stay running.

I have a chevy c3500 with a 6.5 turbo diesel, the times that it has happened

to me was because of a dirty fuel filter or water, most diesel have a bleed off

valve to dissipate any accesss water in the fuel line, on my truck is located

on the right front side of the engine . you bleed it off when the engine is

turned off. good luck

6.2 diesel will not bleed diesel

Make sure all lines are light when turning engine over. While turning engine over loosen the a line closes to pump or the fuel filter. You should get some fuel. Then continue on all lines working farther away.

The P,T pump is likely the problem . The pump is inside the engine and is really expensive to replace.

Fuel pump wiring diagram 1988 chevy truck

I personally have 1988 GMC truck and had to replace the fuel pump. I found all the info including wiring diagram in a haynes repair manual. These can be purchased in most automotive parts stores. Something I found interesting is that the fuel pump's operation works through the oil pressure switch, located by the distributor screwed into the engine block. If this switch is stuck or sticking it will affect the fuel pump. Replaced a good fuel pump for nothing! The truck had sit up for awhile and the ground wire connections had to be cleaned as well.
