Karen, this is a very common problem on all x types .the part required is a heater controle panel .,it has three knobs ,the fault occurs in the circuit board built in to the controle panel , second hand from a jag breaker is about 50.00 pounds regards keith

Hi
You will be fine driving the car with the engine light on as this is a safety feature the car may be under powered ie may feel as if the turbo's not working (If it has one) but this is perfectly normal the engine light comes on which will then put the car in to "Limp Mode" which then allows you to get the car home or to the nearest garage
Hope this helps Nick

Remote not working on my 2003 Jaguar S..have replaced battery on both remotes...I have looked in manual to find appropriate fuse.. guess I am blind..which fuse is it?

You may have to have the remotes recoded at the dealer. My remotes to my Jag don't work either. But hey the parts falling off my Jag ARE of the finest British make. LOL I really love my Jag. Call the dealer and see if they can't recode the remotes for you.

My heater and a/c control isnt working on my 2003 bmw 325

It sure could be a fuse. Check them out first and see if any of them are blown. I would use a tester or even better a multimeter if it is handy. If not a 99 cent tester can be purshased and used.
