What type of warning light? If check engine light, that could be on for bad sensor, leaky vacuum line, or a bad circuit. there are also abs and ebrake and temp lights as well. What is yours for?

IF the warning light is on, then there's a trouble code stored in the computer. Get the trouble code read. That's always the starting point in any diagnosis.

Abs break light on warning light

You probably have a wheel speed sensor that has lost connection. Check all wire connections on the wheel bearings.

Brake warning light

It has always been my experience 91 civic hatch that the brake light is tide into the e-brake switch. I would start there. Does anything seem to be wrong with the way the brakes feel while driving?

The amber ABS warning light is telling you that there is a problem with the ABS system. When the antilock brakes don't work you just have good old fashion non antilock brakes. When the red brake warning light is on it could be a couple of things. (unless you are talking about the brake light on the back of the car is stuck on) the red brake warning light on the dash tells you when the parking brake is on and it also tells you when there is a problem with the hydraulic system. Some cars will also turn this light on when the brake fluid is low, (not sure if the Cavalier does this)

The ABS system is computer controlled and needs to be scanned for trouble codes to diagnose the problem.

I can't say I have ever heard of a "brights" indicator flashing, Do the headlights go bright and dim as it is flashing? Is it a slow on and off like a turn signal or faster than that?

Brake warning light stays on always

Have you checked the fluid level in the brake reservoir?
It may not look low-- but it could be just low enough to activate the brake warning light.
Top it up the correct cold level.

My abs light is always on and now my brake warning light is on but brakes seem to be working fine

The ABS light is a warning that you have an issue with the ABS system. The red brake warning lamp is serious. It is telling you that there is an issue with the base brakes. Your car will be ok with an ABS light, but the red warning lamp could be really dangerous. You should have them checked ASAP. It could be from many causes. A park brake switch, low fluid, the causes are too numerous to list. Please for your safty have it checked. Good Luck
