Question about Chevrolet Colorado

2 Answers

2006 Chevy Colorado doesn't start all of the time. have to wait about 15 minutes and then it will usually start up like there was nothing wrong. When I try to start it right away, it either: Turns over, but doesn't start. or It does a clicking noise like the battery is dead. Or it will act like it isn't going to turn over, do a voltage interruption (clock resets), tries to restart on its own and then starts up. Sometimes it starts up strong the first time for a month straight and then gives me problems. Fuel pump and filter recently replaced and dealership says that computer has no codes. please help.

Why the anti-thief device is keeping my truck from starting?

I replaced my computer at 53,000 miles and it starts up OK now with an occasional issue with starting like it has crud in the line or something, but the resetting the key after a miss does require the 15 minute wait. Had to do it once since the computer was replaced, but the issue before was the anti-theft system would shut it down after starting every time requiring a tow truck to get it to the shop. $700 for the computer chip replacement.

2006 chevy colorado out of the blue will not start. just makes clicking sound. Started it drove out of garage shut it off. Went back out 5 minutes later won't start. Clock even reset.

Sounds like a bad battery. A number of chain auto parts stores will check it and your charging system free. Before that, if your battery has removable caps, check the water level, if it's down, fill to the bottom of the fill rings and charge the battery, if you have a battery hydrometer, all the cells should have about the same charge level, if one or more show a lot lower than the others, battery is probably bad. Hope this helps.

Colorado Transmission and high idle

The coolant temp sensor could cause the problems.
If the sensor says the coolant is 15 degrees several things would happen.
The only way to know is to be able to attack it when it happens which would be hard to predict. You could replace the sensor but may never know if it is fixed or not.
The check engine light should have come on when that code was set.

Truck want start sometimes, have to wait for about 10 mins then it will start. took it to the dealer they cant find anything wrong .can you help me? i have a 2006 chevy colorado.

Check to see if there is a light on the dash that says "security" or "antitheft" or a picture of a car with a lock thru it when this happens again. The fact that the truck starts after 10 minutes makes me think its a failing antitheft system disabling either your starter or fuel injectors. This is actually a VERY common GM problem. My x5 3.0i 2006 t won't start this morning but temperature, gas level clock were wrong so I turn the engine off and restart a couple times it won't start and I saw message trans. false safe...

no. I'd suggest to disconnect a battery for 15 mins, reconnect, wait for 5 mins and try to restart. If it doesn't help (sometimes there's a program block to prevent stealing equipment) call a dealer

How do you change the oil on a 2006 chevy colorado

This is for the 5 cylinder 3.5 liter engine in the Colorado

1. The drain plug is in the middle of the oil pan on the drivers side.
Use a 15 mm socket or box end wrench to remove the plug. Drain
oil.
2. The oil filter is at the bottom front corner of the engine on the passenger side. Remove the filter. Try not to tip the filter when you
remove it so you don't get oil on other parts of the truck.
3. Rub a small of oil on the gasket of the new filter. Spin on the new filter, 3/4 to 1 turn past when the gasket starts to seat. Hand tighten
only.
4. Reinstall the drain plug. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN OR YOU COULD
STRIP THE THREADS.
5. Add 6 quarts of oil to the oil filler tube located on top of the engine
in the front and middle of the engine compartment. It shows the location
in the owners manual. Install the filler cap.
6. Start the engine and let it run a few minutes to fill the filter with oil.
Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain down to
the bottom of the engine. Remove the dip stick and check oil level.
Checking oil level is in the owners manual.

2006 chevy colorado cranks over but wont start

2005 Colorado 4x4 stick shift – I had the same thing happen and it had to do with the passlock system – it will keep your truck from starting for approximately 10 minutes, yes you will have to wait and let it sit- if you try to start it will just turn over forever. On my truck the solution was to change my starting procedure, I now keep the truck in neutral-turn the key all the way for a few seconds and then push in the clutch- it starts every time. If you have an automatic I don’t know..
