is this automatic, or manual controls ?? if manual, set the fan speed to #2 position, pull the knob straight off. It may give you a hard time, and you may need to use both hands... no kidding. you will see the little bulb in the middle there, or if you bought a new unit maybe there isn't one installed at all...

2000 VW Golf. My windows and sunroof won't close (no noise, no trying, nothing) but everything else seems to work fine. Any ideas?

Fuse blown - look for the one with the key symbol it powers windows/locks/interior lights/sunroof operation. Then work out why it blows...could be anything on the circuit so check a lock isn't sticking on/off when operating the central locking.

The way to find this out is simple, on the housing of the trans there is a code, a serial number, that will tell you what type of gearbox is required for this model.

2004 Golf

Hi, I doubt it will help as mine was a 1993 Mk 3. Your 2004 model could be a Mk 4 or a Mk 5, and they will certainly be different from mine, and probably from each other. Have you checked the inside of the fuse box lid for info - it might be there...
Hope this helps, D.
