Use an ohmmeter. Place one probe on each side and see if it has current reading. Do this while out of vehicle.
Go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual for any car and testing and replacing, and diagrams, directions, and more.
do a continuity test on the crank sensor, if it reads zero, it is bad.
