Need to have the tool to compress the steering wheel lock plate and steering wheel and then it is not bad to do.

you can get them on rental from auto zone!

first remove steering wheel with puller then remove lock plate with compressor tool and you will have to take the clip out after compressing the lock plate you will see the c-clip around the column shaft.

once that is off you can remove lock plate and gain access to the multi function assambly that un screws with three main philliups head screws and the screw hoding the blinker arm and the flasher switch to it.

once those all are remove you can pull straight back towards you on the multi fuctin ***. it has a bunch of wire connected to it but don't worry they will pull out just far enough to get that out of your way.

once pulled back you will see a plastic piece that has two brass metal tabs on it on the right inner side of the column near the ignition switch. carefull pull straight back on it being extra crefull not to break it and once that is out you will need a t20 torx screw driver to remove the retaining torx bolt holding the ignition in.

once that is out your ingintion will come right out. install everything in the reverse procedure.

let me know if you have any more question. good luck

How do i fix this problem with my 1995 taurus ignition lock cylinder. it will turn the car on but will not shut it off?

The replacement ignition lock cylinder could be defective. This happens sometimes with electrical components.

Remove ignition lock to switch link 1995 suburban

The ignition lock assembly contains two components: a lock cylinder to deter theft and an electrical portion that supplies power to electrical components such as the radio, electric windows, and windshield wipers. The electrical portion of the ignition switch also provides power to the starter motor to start the engine.
The ignition lock is an anti-theft device that prevents a vehicle from being driven unless the ignition key is in the ignition switch. If the ignition key is not in the ignition switch, it 's impossible to turn the steering wheel.
To replace the ignition switch cylinder lock, the trim panels around the steering wheel are removed. Then the tamper-proof hardware that attaches the ignition lock assembly to the steering column is removed. The ignition lock assembly is removed from the steering column, and the lock cylinder is replaced. The new ignition lock is reattached to the steering column, and the trim panels are replaced.make sure you dissconect battery first the 1997 had a recall on the ignition switch dont no if the 1995 had a recall if so they will replace for free

Lock Cylinder Functional
Removal
  1. NOTE: The following procedure applies to vehicles that have functional ignition switch lock cylinders (11582), lock cylinder keys are available for these vehicles or the lock cylinder key numbers are known and the proper key can be made.

Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01 .
  1. Turn ignition switch lock cylinder to RUN position.
  1. Place a 3.17 mm (1/8-inch) diameter wire pin or small drift punch in hole in lower steering column shroud (3530) under ignition switch (11572). Press retaining pin while pulling out on ignition switch lock cylinder to remove it from steering column lock cylinder housing (3511).
Installation
  1. Install ignition switch lock cylinder by turning it to RUN position. Insert ignition switch lock cylinder into steering column lock cylinder housing. Make sure ignition switch lock cylinder is fully seated and aligned in interlocking washer before turning ignition switch lock cylinder to OFF position. This will permit cylinder retaining pin to extend into steering column tube flange hole.

  1. Connect battery ground cable.

99 olds aurora pass key problem

There is most likely a problem with the tiny sensor in the ignition lock cylinder, it is not reading the key chip and locks u out, the problem is u can't just replace the lock cylinder u need a dealer only re-programm of the pass key system since the control module will not recognize the new lock code, catch 22 if u ask me. Do u have more than one key for the car? do both do this?
