2001 Chevy Impala 3.8L V6 that will not start, and when it does it will not stay running

You did not say TPS, The TPS or Throttle Positioning Sensor regulates most of how the engine acts at a given RPM.

Seems like you have many things going on, might help to just start replacing what you know is bad first.

Hope this helps.

1988 ford f150 won't stay running

I You can get free fusebox layouts at Autozone.com by registering your vehicle.

Try changing the fuel filter. May be too much resistence is causing the fuelpumps to trip their limit switches.

If you have not used a scanner, someone may have one for this old style system. An bad O2 sensor can adjust the fuel mix too lean to run.

If you have a fuelpressure regulator, it may only cycle once for starting and then fail to trigger the fuelpump a second time to restart the fuelpump.

Check with FordF150blog.com or some of the 4x4 truck offroad sites for some pretty good info about problems like yours in the Backwoods and how to fix them.

I hope my solution is helpful.

The truck will crank but will not stay running.when i give it gas it wants to die but i can play with it and get it to stay running for a few min.I can not find the proublem can you help.

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem. If you havent changed fuel filter recently, change it first. If it does not cure problem need a fuel pressure tester to check for proper fuel pressure. May be bad fuel pressure regulator or bad fuelpump.

I have a 1985 4runner 22re, it is having an intermitant start up. it will start normal and run for a couple of days then it will not start again. i have changed out fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel regulator,...

Try this----there should be two or three coils in the distributor. Check these coils with your ohm meter. The car will run with one bad coil in a "limp mode". However, if a second coil goes bad, it will not run or start. These coils can be intermittantly bad so you have to check them when you have a no start condition. If you check when car is running well then you may not find the problem coil. What are the code numbers?

-turns over but won't start -changed fuel filter

Check your battery as it supplies juice for the coil. Then check your coil or coilpak and the crankshaft sensor. The bad spark may be an underlying reason for how the truck has been running.

Do you know if the fuelpump is working? The Inertia sensor may have tripped while you changed regulators. You may need to reset the button on it to connect the fuelpump.
