According to the EPA:

Specified major emission control components are covered for the first 8 years or 80,000 miles. If you are a resident of an area with an Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) program that meets federal guidelines, you are eligible for this warranty protection provided that:

* Your car or light-duty truck fails an approved emissions test;
and

* Your vehicle is less than 2 years old and has less than 24,000
miles (up to 8 years/80,000 miles for certain components); and

* Your state or local government requires that you repair the
vehicle; and

* The test failure does not result from misuse of the vehicle or a
failure to follow the manufacturers' written maintenance
instructions; and

* You present the vehicle to a warranty-authorized manufacturer
representative, along with evidence of the emission test failure,
during the warranty period.

Usually 100,000 miles , some are 70,000 miles. just call your local toyota dealer parts or service dept. , or look in your owners manual under the warranty section of your manual.

Good luck with your problem

the upper 02 sensor is for air fuel mix while the secondary 02 sensor is for the operation and status of the catalitic converter are you sure the catalitic converter is not plugged. Could be if you have had a loss of power

Car may be running rich. If the car is getting normal mpg, I would not worry. The codes that indicate poor converter efficiency indicate the converter is wearing out. If that code keeps coming back, replace the converter. If it is getting poor mpg, I would look for something causing rich operation. Possibly a broken fuel pressure regulator or maybe a bad map sensor. Continued rich operation will cause the converter to fail prematurely.

2001 Legacy Wagon Idles rough and has no power when in gear. Changed all the plugs, changed the exaust sensor. Check engine light still on after all that.

1 you need to get the code. 2 sounds like the catalitic converter is bad. If the code was for the exhaust sensor, the catalitic converter will pop this code.

Have a 2008 Chevy Aveo. The check engine light is on w/a po420 code. The dealer shpwed me a TSB that stated that this is a problem w/the catalytic converter but first have to replace all 4 injectors. Does...

TSB are technican sevice buliton
since this is an emmission problem for both catalitic and injectors
it should be covered under emmission warranty (check to be sure)
injectors could be overfuelling causing catalitic to malfunction setting off codes
or pluging up with carbon

2002 Toyota Rav4....check engine light""is

Here are two of the most common causes of the check engine light.

Most common, MAF ( mass air flow ), sensor. A faulty MAF prevents the computer from determining the correct fuel/air mix ratio.

Oxygen sensor. ( front and rear, front meaning before the catalytic converter, rear meaning after the catalitic converter. The front measures the fuel/air mix being sent through the catalitic converter, the back measures the emmisions and lets the computer know if any fuel/air mix ratios need to be adjusted. Both of these can trigger the check engine light.

I hope this helps you.

Exhaust problems

You need to replace the catalitic converter. If you try to weld it the heat will destroy the interior anyway.

Engine light wont go off.

The catalitic converter is a mechanical device , it simply converts harmful emissions into water/vapour. The 02 sensor if faulty would put the engine management light on. If the 02 sensor has been faulty for sometime it could tell the ECU to supply the wrong amount of fuel to the engine which in turn would eventually damage the catalitic convertor. So you may have to change both in the end, but first I would check out the 02 sensor and replace if required.

2002 Alero check Engine light Codes P0132, P0137

Code P0132 is O2 sensor voltage high bank1 sensor 1, P0137 is O2 sensor voltage low bank 1 sensor 2, P1189 indicates a fuel control problem bank 1. It could be either the O2 sensors or a convertor. Could also be intake manifold gaskets. GM had a lot of problems with the lower intake gaskets leaking on the 3.1 and 3.4 engines that was linked to their Dexcool coolant. In fact they just lost a class action lawsuit about it. check with the dealer and see if the intake problem has been taken care of. Hope this helps.

ok the bank 1 is where the cilinder one is get a firing order and see where is the number one cylinder that's the bank one
then follow the exaust and replace the sensor after the catalitic
