Honda reccomends timing belt change at 100k. Most Honda dealers like you to change the belt at 90,000 miles (90k). some auto repair places will want to change the belt at 60k but that is not necessary (Note: if in a severe cold or hot climate like florida or canada you would change the belt before 90k or if the belt is over 7 years old.. Good luck:

A timing belt for a 2004 Honda Civic needs to be replaced every 110,000 miles unless it is being driven in extremely hot or cold temperatures.

SOURCE: 2003 Honda Civic -LX Timing belt

I tried to get my timing belt/water pumped changed at 96,000K's and my dealer told me the belt in our 2003 Civic is good for 7 years or 168,000K's. I didn't believe him, so I called another dealer out of town and they told me 7 years or 184,000K's.

SOURCE: 95 honda civic timing belt replacement process

If you have never changed a cambelt (timing belt) then it is not recommended that you attempt it. It is a job for a mechanic, as getting the cam timing wrong on reassembly is easy to do and can have disastrous consequences. It is easy enough once you know how, and if you are reasonably mechanically able, I'd suggest getting a repair manual for your vehicle that has a step by step procedure for timing belt replacement. Companies like Haynes produce very good repair manuals.

2004 honda civic sedan since november 2003 40,000 miles and dealer says timing belt needs to be changed live in seattle

Although your milage is very low your belt is do by time.Alot of times i consider the wear of the external belts because the timing belt will wear similar to them and considering the cost of replacing a timing belt as a maitenence compared to a failure I would definitely do it now.

Hi, what is the mileage/time required for 2004 Civic to change timing belt? With/without water pump? thx

I would change the timing belt approximately every 80,000 mi. This is a guideline only that I have used on my 1979 Honda, and it still seems to be the right mileage for changing the timing belt on newer Hondas such as yours.

Just bought a 2004 Honda Civic VTech with 37000 miles. When does Honda recommend changing the timing belt?

Do you mean inside the engine(timing belt)?Or do you mean tensioner belt which is attached to a/c,alternator,fan etc.?If you mean tensioner belt(which seems more like what you are asking),then it just needs to be inspected periodically. If there are frays, knicks,or cracks, then it needs changing. They may have a requirement,I am not sure, but when companies have set scheduling like 30K,or 50K mile checkup,it is more likely to require inspection to determine replacement needs, rather than a definitely change at such and such miles.Good luck!

At how many miles should you change the timing belt on a 2004 honda civic?

7 years or:
Replace the belt at 60,000 miles (100,000 km) if you regularly drive your vehicle in one or more of these conditions: in very high temperatures (over 110°F, 43°C) or in very low temperatures (under 20°F, 29°C).

How to change the water pump belt for the 2004 honda civic and the 2005 toyota matrix.

The water pump's on both of those cars are driven by the timing belts. You shouldnt have to change the timing belt for at least 60,000 miles, although different manufacturers specify what mileage they want the belts changed at. Changing those belts can be complicated, and it's a considerable amount of work to even access them. My honest advise is, if you've never done a timing belt before, either take it to a good shop, or buy a good timing belt book, Chilton has one that is excellent, and make sure you have the tools you need and a lot of patience.
