It's surprisingly common for the bolts in the pivot knuckle to come loose. It isn't too bad to repair, but requires special tools to pull the steering wheel and the lock plate behind the steering wheel. It's best left to a professional.

Where is the play coming from? Won't be the steering column, you just notice it there.

My steering wheel has lots of play up and down , side to side i removed steering wheel i'm stuck on how to get the rest apart to tighten bolts in steering column

you're best to remove the entire column and do it in the bench, if you can get a diagram it will help a lot, assembilng a steering column is tricky, some parts are spring loaded and others only assemble in in the proper order, you got the steering column out, now you will need a tool to depress the lock plate, remove the c clip and the plate, then remove the signal arm and fourway button, remove the signal switch plate remember how everything came out,you should be able to remove the steerin shafe and get at the four bolts holding the tilt mechanism, four reverse torx bolts, reassemble and install, good luck

How do I replace the ignition switch

It's sort of difficult. To do this yourself. FIRST remove the poss lead off your battery. then the steering column has to be taken apart. This requires removing the air bag, steering wheel, and any covers on the column.Lots of screws and lots of weird positions to get into to remove screws. After all this, the ignition switch is in easy access. Replace and re-install all items removed.
