I'm a bit suspect of the connections at the battery and starter after they were changed. That is when the problem with the no spark began. Re check all the connections, INCLUDING the ground wire for the negative post on both ends. Check Dist cap and rotor and wires going into the cap. You better pop of the dist. cap and look at the rotor also.

Test the coil. To test the coil Disconnect battery and use an Ohmmeter on the coil contacts. This will tell you if the contact is open, in that case replace the coil. After that get a tester and check if there is power to the igniter, if not the problem is somewhere in wiring.

These problems are not related, just a coincidence. Change the fuel filter. Also check the battery, recharge it and you should be ok.

Gas will not flow easily (sometimes hardly at all) into my 1983 Toyota pickup. Is the line clogged? Is there a seperate connection that allows air to escape during filling which could be clogged?

check your fuel pump pressure and I'm sure you changed your fuel filter. Blow compressed air back through fuel line as it may be something floating in tank. Does flow change when gas cap is off? Is this 20 or 22R motor?

Engine trouble with my 1983 toyota pickup

Toyota engines have a built in TSTV- thermo controlled vacuum system where vacuum is applied to the choke system in various levels as according to the temp. of the engine. If the TSTV is faulty or if the vacuum pipes are incorrectly placed then you have a choke which is not opening up properly. Fuel is thus not burnt completely and due to the incomplete combustion there is a formation of soot on your exhaust. Try to get the choke to open up in relation to the temp of the engine. The fuel/air ratio alse needs to be checked ( idle mixture control) once you have the vacuum system working properly.

Wont start

toyota's have a big washer in the starter that gets all corroded and refuses to make contact,...great part is that you can turn it around and use the other side which will be in perfect shape!! then she'll start good for another 150,000 miles,....i don't know about the stalling bit,...try maybe fuel filter for that,.....these cars don't usually do anything bad, or break,....so try the simple stuff first,..good luck, and to Ashley's first set of wheels. cracklin joe,....
