Question about 2001 BMW 330
Bmw 330diesel sport 2002 gear box problem. when going over 60mph and i let go of the accelerator car starts to judder the noise is coming from the gear box. iv been to main dealers the oil was low and they topped it up but it still doing the same thing so i serviced the gear box oill and filtered changed but it still has the same problem. i have been told it needs a new gear box for about 1200 for reconditioning is going to be the same and is it worth doing it. thank you
Wether it's worth the cost of repair is something only you can decide, what is the mileage and condition of vehicle ? have you had the OBD codes read to see if there is a code to help with diagnosing the problem ?

if the transmission was low on fluid you may have worn some parts, take this to a shop that specializes in BMW transmissions, this is not for the local transmission guy, special tools needed to test the transmission, may have to be re-programed

BMW's from 82' to 2001 should have a 20 pin connector under the hood. Unscrew the lid and find pins 7 and 19. Short these pins together and turn the key to run, not start. Within 5 to 10 seconds the sensor will reset. Leave the key on, and remove the short. Don't leave them shorted too long, as this will reset the maintenance interal.
