Root cause of 2003 chev trailblazer low beam socket melting.

Very common problem for TB's, should of been a recall. It's a manufacturer problem, the guage of the wires are too small and the socket just can't tolerate high heat, so tend to melt out. Try switching to a high heat socket, from a site like rockauto.com. Or if you can find a ceramic socket, that's even better.

How do I change the lowbeam bulb on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer?

Behind the low beam and high beam lamps, on the back of the assembly, you can see and feel a round, cup-like, hard plastic piece. This is really just a rubber cap covering a plastic cylindrical housing, and is the "back-door" for lamp access.
This rubber cap, or lid, can be pulled off with your fingers...if you can grip it just right and pull off. If this is too hard to do, then take a flat tip screwdriver and gently "pry" it off.
Then twist the bulbs counter clockwise about a quarter turn.

If you are going to replace the passenger side low beam remove the air cleaner assembly first. To do this remove the cross brace, then the 3 screws on the air cleaner assembly. This will give you easy access to the bulb assembly. Test the bulb before you reassemble.

How to change passenger side low beam headlight.

check out the type of bulb you need at your local auto parts store. if it plugs into a socket in the rear of the light, be careful NOT to touch the glass part of the bulb when replacing it. it will put the oil from your skin on the bulb and when it reaches operating temps it will blow again Just figure out what type bulb it takes and repost if you need assistance.

Front turn signal bulb replacement

HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Halogen bulbs contain gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal injury:

NOTE : Avoid touching the bulb or letting the bulb come in contact with anything damp. Oil from your skin or moisture on the bulb can cause the bulb to explode when the bulb is turned on. If either comes in contact with the bulb, clean the bulb with alcohol or a suitable degreaser and wipe the bulb dry.

I need to replace the driver side low beam headlight.

Hello;
Open the hood and you should see a pin at the back of the headlight enclosure. Pull the pin up and the enclosure should swing free. There may be 2 pins , one on each side of the enclosure. The bulb socket should now be easily reached. Push in on the lock tab and turn. Pull the socket and bulb out. Discard the old bulb and being very careful not to touch the new bulb reinstall. The oil from your fingers will cause premature failure. Reinstall the reverse. It is a good idea to change both low beams at the same time.
Thanks;
Rich
