Sounds like your mechanic is definitely barking up the right tree there!
Check the vacuum hose leading from the engine through the firewall to the underside of the dash where all the vacuum motors for your heater controls are. It is common for this hose to be cooked up and split from engine heat. Hope this helps.

Check plastic line coming through firewall (passenger side) to engine and end where it connects to engine. Also check in line one way check valve for defect or backwards. If nothing found, run engine--turn off key and listen for HISS under dash.

A/C fan stops completely (No Air) when accelerating.

The blower is probably running when you are accelerating, but you may not have air coming out the dash vents. If there is a vac leak in the HVAC the vent control will go back to the default setting which is defrost. You may not have enough vac to keep the blend doors on the vent setting when the engine is under load.

Air flow issue- intermittently blows from wrong vents

This is a common problem on this site.
In your case I would look for a vac leak or a sticky blend door.
Since the direction of air flow changes when you are accelerating, I'm going to guess the blend door or doors are controlled by engine vacuum. There may be a vac leak between the dash and the engine, or the blend door may not be able to move back and forth correctly.
Defrost is the default position when a problem occurs, to make sure the windshield is clear of fog or frost.

Air blowing out floor and defrost vents but not not front vents

Sounds like a blend door problem. The vacuum from the engine opens and closes the door that directs air flow thru the vents.
I would guess the door is stuck in the middle of the range or something is blocking it.
The blend door(s) is behind the glove box.

The only way to solve those type of problems
because of the extensive electronics,is to use
a professional scan tool to access that system
your having issues with

Unfortunately there is little a vehicle owner can do
at home any more. Even the pros are barely able
to even know where to start

Personnally I think they would need trouble chart
to follow

I will encourage you to avoid a dealer, unless your buying
a vehicle or getting free warrantee work. Never go there
ever. Too expensive & the results especial at Lincoln is
terrible. They won't even look at the issue until they sell
you all kinds of services & you have been there 3 times

Before replacing anything, look for a vacuum leak. Check under the hood for a broken or dislodged vacuum hose.

Air stops blowing through the vents when accelerating

u have a loss of vacuum to the ac mode control switch, this switch applies vacuum to diff vacuum motors to move air to diff outlets, dash, floor, defrost etc. either the vacuum line or vacuum resivior at the engine is leaking or the mode control is leaking vacuum.

You have a vacuum leak. Look under the dash and check the placement of the vacuum hoses that activate the vent doors. One or more may have slipped or may be cracked.
