Car starts but won't go

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Pickup truck. It will start, and then die. When it broke down on me it just started losing excelleration and then died. I can now start it, but it dies when I put it in gear. Any ideas as to the problem???

Car only starts with a jump.checked battery and alternater.both working fine


i bet it's bad terminals if they have the slightest crack in them they won't allow the juice to flow

2001 ford sport trac won,t start changed fuel filter stars but now won't start again after about 2 months


Listen to see if fuel pump is kicking on it will make a high pitch nosie then click off after gas line is pressurized.

Starts but won't stay running


Have someone help you do the following. Turn on the vehicle,before it dies,quickly tap the idle air control valve with a wrench or anything you have. If the engine does not die after you tap the IAC,this means that the IAC is faulty. The IAC is under the plastic plate that is behind the throttle body.
