You will need an actron code reader to do that, you can buy cheaps one in any auto parts, soon you have, just plug in into your car computer access port and do scan, after the scan in case you got no erros, just press erase on device. If you do have errors i suggest you to have that check first.

Good luck

You've got a lot of unburnt fuel getting into your exhaust or the catalytic converter may have failed too. I would expect the "check engine" or "service engine soon" light is on.

How do you remove the "Service Engine Soon" on a

the check engine light alerts you that there are problems. There will be a code or codes stored in the engines computer. You can retrieve these codes one of three ways.

1. call your local auto parts store. Many times they will do this for free.

2. buy an inexpensive code reader. Available just about anywhere that has an automotive department. They will start at about $50.

3. Bring it in to a shop to have a check engine light diagnostic done.

Once you know the code you can then start to focus on a repair. Once a repair is made the codes will be cleared and the check engine light will turn off. If you do not make the repairs the light will not stay off. It will continue to come on and stay on until the proper repair is made.

I have a 2001 pontiac grand am se v6 . The service engine soon light came on and i got a free diagnostic ran and it brought up these codes; P0443, P0449, and P0141.

PO443, Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction
PO449, Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Circuit Malfunction
PO141, Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2).
I don't understand why the free diagnostic didn't come with a service recommendation?
P.S. I hope that you know when one of your headlights are out!

Describe your service engine soon light blinking

you have a missfire that is why the light blinks, it also will have a trouble code stored showing which cylinder is causing the problem, but this sounds like a plug or plug wire issue.

Abs light, trac light, service engine soon light 2001 Pontiac Grand Am

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.
