I give a look towards the O2 sensor. When an O2 senor fails the ECU will run the engine rich (better to to this then run lean and burn up valves, in running rich the gas mileage goes bad quick) This condition sounds familiar for O2 sensor failiar.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom

Have high fuel consumption on my fiesta 1.4 fuel injection.11 lt/100km. car runs smooth.

high fuel consumption Petrus, sticking E brake, poor gas, tune up needed, lazy O2 sensor,
leaking injectors, driving habits, etc. all can cause more fuel consumption. Have it scanned to help determine cause.

Does the driving on overdrive mode cause high fuel consumption, because the transmission use the first three ratios mostly?

Driving in overdrive, say on a trip where your speeds are over 65 to 70..Actually saves gas, but using overdrive to drive around town not only uses more gas, but can cause damage to your transmission.

Hoe do I fix high fuel consumption in my car?

IN order to improve fuel consumption you must make the engine run more efficiently. here are the most important ways.
typical maintenance. (check the manual)

1. check air in tires
2. oil and oil filter change
3. spark plugs change (TUNE UP)
4. air filter change

you personally can do most of these things. go to local walmart and get most of these items. very easy.

good luck.

Sir , my car is a TOYOTA COROLLA 54EEA10 with an injection system, year of manufacture 1995.Recently the consumption gets very high .For half the thank full I am not able to run a 150 kilometre.Please...

The poor performance of the car makes the consumption go up and so we need to check the working of the engine. Check if the fuel contains impurities and specially water. If so this can come up with the pumping when the tank gets empty and produce misfiring, splutter and jerks. So a check on the fuel filter will confirm this as it will be seen, if so remove and clean tank and change the filter. We then come to the fuel pump/the pumping fuel pressure must be determined in this section. You need to have the pump calibrated if the pressure at the injector is low.

Then we must check with the electrics. The spark intensity is most important .Remove all plugs to check gap and condition of plugs. The black plug indication will confirm that the performance is bad whereas a fully fired plug without deposits must be the ideal view. Check the HT coil and the HT wires, if the intensity is bad this must be swapped and checked to confirm. DO NOT CHANGE any part without a confirmation by trying with a replacement from another vehicle or friend. Finally the LT trigger to the coils must be checked be it from the platinum points or an electronic ignition unit. The voltage of the trigger must be high to give the best HT output.

Now use a strobe to check the Timing on the engine. Adjust if needed to correct the timing for a smooth ticking and ideal idle RPM. If there is valve noise make sure that the tappets are set properly so that the valves seat firmly for the best compression. Also check compression of engine if there is imbalance on the engine or reduced power.

High mileage car. Low quality Kenyan fuel. Low on

High on mileage means that the engine has done a lot of work, possible that the compression is down, need to check if this is below level, if there is oil used in excess then the engine needs an overhauling subject to the cost estimated.

Cant compromise on bad fuel as this will bring down the power of the engine.
High fule consumption means poor setting so fuel and ignition , check fuel settings- pump calibration and timing.

Sounds like its time for a tune up. Start there and your mechanic will be able to note any other abnormal conditions. change fuel/air filter and any other maintenance items you haven't done so far.
