Yes you can drive the car and it wont hurt a bit as long it drive fine. the car just letting you know it need some attention and will and need to have it check when you get a chance. some people drive for years and tolerate the light. check engine lights could mean anything. it could be something basic and simple like your O2 sensor or something little bit more complicated. The best thing to do is to take it dealer and have them do a engine diagnostic, this will give mechanic a code what is wrong with it. they will charge you around 50-75 bucks. if you have them do the work and put the new part in they will credit you that amount toward your repair bill or you can have them tell you what wrong with it and get the part and do it your self to save on labor or you can go to auto zone and they will do it for free, beside the parts and installation. hope that help some

Yes u can drive it, there is however a fault in the engine controls for the fuel injection or emission control system, have the dealer test the system for the trouble code that is stored whenever this light comes on to determine the problem

Highly likely it is safe.

Generally, it reports emission issues not danger issues.
Take vehicle to AutoZone within a few days (no rush) and have them scan the code for you (free). They can provide a print-out for you and reset the code.

Let us know what the code is and what the print-out reports.

The car could not sense the signal from the sensor that determines engine speed and went into shutdown and limpin. First step is to retrieve the Trouble code and determine what is wrong. Do not drive the car.

2000 Land Cruiser flashing check engine light and the car is running rough/shuddering

The warning light is telling you the computer has found a problem that is affecting engine performance and fuel mileage. A flashing light means it is something serious.
You should have someone scan the computer for trouble codes and go from there. The codes will help direct the mechanic as to what to test.

Engine failure

When a catalytic converter is coming apart on the inside, it can restrict air flow and power, and it usually happens or gets worse when the vehicle has been running long enough to generate a lot of heat. Once it cools down, the symptoms can completely go away until you begin to drive it again. It's one possibility.

You need to scan your computers to find out why the lights are coming on. There will be fault codes stored that may lead you to the answer.

I WOULD ALMOST BET THAT THE SHAKING OF THE CAR IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THUS ONE PROBLEM. IT COULD BE BAD INJECTOR(S) OR JUST POOR MAINTENENCE. WITH 88K ON IT I THINK IT WOULD BE SOMETHING MINOR. HOPE THIS HELPS. LET ME KNOW. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR AN HONEST RATING AS WELL.

Flashing check engine light

If its an orange light its a service engine soon light, the car can be driven, if its a red check engine light DO NOT DRIVE because of risk to damage the engine. However if there is an auto zone close by they will check the light for free. Then I can work with you from there. Good Luck
