Question about 1996 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Open Question

1996 Mercedes C280 will not start. Worked fine in the morning. Engine cranks but will not catch. Colored lights on rear view mirror flash after ignition switch is turned on for a few seconds. Googling around shows maybe it's a camshaft position sensor, but maybe it's the alarm, although the lock/unlock works on the remote. If it is a cps, can I replace it myself?

Turned out to be a K 40 relay. Cost $500 to fix at the dealer. Relay cost just over $100.

SOURCE: blower on heater not working

i am no expert on this type of car but you can try this. first i would see if you got power from the switch. if you can get to them. if no power than i would say it is the switch. but also i would find out if there is a resister for the heater. if there is this could also be the problem. heater resisters chg. the speeds for the heater motor and also make heater motor run. its either located on the heater box or the air evaporator box if it has one.

P reg merc c180. red light flashes on rear view mirror when drivi

If you have a small odd shaped key on the keyring there is a socket under the steering wheel (in the plastic housing) which mine fitted. By turning the key left or right in the socket it resets the light. I found that the flashing light indicated that the alarm had been triggered at some time when I had been away from the car and had switched itself off after a time. If you have this key you could try that.

Dont know how to reset central lock-out

hello,
from your opening key button, on the car key, its a black, folding key. keep the opening button pushed until a red light apears in front of the key side. then start the engine. Both lights on the inside rear view mirror will blink.
then is reset.
hope will work.
