Your friend needs to rent a timing light from AutoZone. With luck, AutoZone will lend it free of charge as long as you leave a $$ deposit which will be returned in full when the timing light is returned.

Have AutoZone look up what the timing is.
Probably 8 degrees before top dead center.
(8 degrees BTDC).

The timing light is easy enough to use, or learn if first time.

I would take it to the dealer and have them check the latch. It may need to be adjusted.
Should still be under warranty.

I have a 1978camero z28 I recently put in a motor from a 1987 everything runs great just can t get it to pass smog the gases are to high and the timing is off but I had it timed three times and the last...

The 78 Z-28 from what I recall didn't have a smog pump, just a catalytic converter and a vapor canister. The 87 engine, I believe had a different set up dependant on whether it was a California engine or not. The rpm adjustment on the 78 was a manual adjustment. Are your vapor recovery hoses all hooked up? As far as the gases being too high, what are the levels?

I have a 2000 ford mustang v6 I was putting 89 octane gas in it. my manual said to burn 87 octane so i'm burnning 87 now .but when I accellerate I get a knocking, rattling sound took it to a ford dealer...

Humm, give it some time. there are upper cylinder cleaners, but I worry about converter damage, and oxygen sensor damage. The lower the octane, the hotter and more masssive the burn, exactly backwards from what you would think, but higher octane is slower burn and av.gas is really, really slow.
Ford has had slow to start issues that traced back to drivers using too high octane....

Still, if it keeps pinging, you may need to run higher than spec octane.
I would have thought that your car would have knock sensor that would trim this issue...

if i was you i'll start with applying an additive for injector cleaning and the next one sounds like you have some electric breackish, sensor or anything.

Power seat problem

There is not a way to manually adjust the seats, and in order to repair your stated issue, I will agree with you, it sounds like a cable issue. problem is, you have to time the cables, so that they will not continue to operate in a twisted state.

1992 geo metro 1.0 engine seems to flood and idles high can't adjust idle it's low as it goes and still idles high timing is right on any suggestions?

You might also check the single injector, had a friend's that the fuel pressure regulator had been messed with and was over-pressurizing the injector, that weakened the injector allowing it to flood at idle and also when cut off (the injector was leaking)

rx7`s should rev to 3000 when started cold then it should settle to 750 to 1000 after about 30 to 60 seconds.
mine suffers a similar problem. so far I have been told various answers, mostly involving the bac valve, lambda sensor, air flow meter, etc. try starting of by adjusting the idle adjust screw (on top of the throttle body under plastic cover) this may be all it is. I have not had time to do mine. Its been fine otherwise and idles fine after a few minutes. mine is non turbo 87.
