I think 1981 and newer carbs are electronic feedback control and are used with computers.Early carbs don't have the feedback controls.

My 1980 Buick century is getting fuel to the carburetor, it has spark, but still won't start any ideas?

is the spark hot enough, high voltage or low, it should jump a gap of 1/4-1/2", and be bright blue/orange spark. is the timing chain worn and need replacing. what shape is the plugs, wires, cap/rotor. it could be the ignition module in the distributor. is the fuel fresh and good quality.

1980 Datsun Pulsar 1300 NEED TO KNOW HOW TO ADJUST THE IDLING

Sorry but our detailed info doesn't go back to this old of a car. But this what I know from experiences in my early career. If it has a carburetor I suggest you tune up the engine and rebuild the carburetor as it is likely the cause. This all assumes the engine runs smoothly and is not misfiring. Also check engine compression on all cylinders, they should be no more than 5% difference fro the highest pressure reading to the lowest.

How to set the floats on 1980 honda fcivic

YOU CHECK FLOAT LEVEL LOOKING AT THE SIGHT GLASS ON THE RIGHT OF THE CARBURETOR.FUEL LEVEL SHOULD ALIGN WITH THE DOT ON THE SIGHT GLASS.IF THE LEVEL IS ABOVE OR UNDER THE DOT THE CARBURETOR HAS TO BE DISASSEMBLED.TO SET FLOATS REMOVE AND INVERT THE AIR HORN UNTIL THE FLOAT ARM JUST TOUCHES THE NEEDLEVALVE OR THERE IS ABOUT 0.1 mm OR 0.004 INCH CLEARANCE BETWEEN THEM.MEASURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE AIR HORN GASKET INSTALLED.AND THE CENTER OF THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOAT.THE DISTANCE SHOULD MEASURE 36.4 mm 1.39 - 1.47 INCH. ADJUST BY TURNING THE NEEDLE VALVE SEAT.BE CAREFUL NOT TO ALLOW THE VALVE SEAT TO PROTRUDE FROM THE SEAT ATTACHING BOSS.WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE VALVE TO FALL.IF THIS IS THE CASE BEND THE FLOAT ARM SLIGHTLY UNTIL PROPER CLEARANCE CAN BE OBTAINED.WHEN CARBURETOR IS INSTALLED CHECK FLOAT LEVEL BY LOOKING INTO THE CARBURETOR FLOAT SIGHT GLASS I MENTION IN INFORMATION ABOVE.IF YOU HAVE A 1487cc AND 1600cc CVCC MODELS WITH THE KEIHIN 3 BARREL CARBURETOR.THIS WOULD DEALERSHIP JOB.THIS TYPE IS HARD TO ADJUST.

Sounds like your choke is sticking. Lube and adjust, if need directions, try to get name of Carburetor (stamped) and actual engine size, maybe sticker on rad support or underside of hood?
