Question about 2000 Ford Focus
So you have checked the battery? Sometimes if you use a battery checker and it says the battery is ok - it could be until you put a workload on it meaning in the remote when you push a button - that remote is demanding voltage from that battery and the battery may not have power left in it to do the job. Try replacing the battery - RadioShack is a good place to look for those (under $6)- most of the time it is just a CR# or A23 or GP27 battery. If that does not make a difference then check the fuses in the car (refer to the owners manual). But definetly start with the cheapest fix first being the battery in the remote.
