I have had my 2000 suzuki esteem for 5 years and just now am changing the oil and filter for the first time. Are there any extra things I should check or do considering it has been neglected so long?

Would help if you shared all vehicle detail information as it relates to miles and what other maintenance have you done to it.
Based on average yearly use, it may be due for a complete tune up, maybe water pump, thermostat and belts. If it's been driven in city, stop and go traffic, brakes could also be taken care of.

Chevy for 54 engine runs was starting fluid but not without

Hi Danny:
The only thing better than a Chevy small block is a Chevy big block.
You're playing with a carbueretted mass of muscle.
Since it's running, you know that spark end of it is working.
That only leaves fuel delivery.
Two main sources of problem:
1) Fuel pump - Is there fuel getting to the carb?
2) Carb - If it gas been sitting for a while there may be grunge and jelly blocking the jets and fuel flow. Remedy is to flush first, then if no fix, dismantle and clean, then if no fix, rebuild or replace.
Hope you've got a classic to carry that engine.

My son inherited a 1994 Mercury Sable with 12,000 miles that hasn't been driven since 2006 and sat outside in snow and sun. Repairs will cost $2,300. What are odds transmission won't work eith

Well anything is possible, but I would expect the transmission to work given the time and mileage.
Is there any way you could drive it a short distance before spending much money ?
I am assuming you are having the fuel tank drained and the cooling system flushed among other things.
I would change the fluids and try to drive it a few blocks before spending money on much else to see what it will need.

The gas gauge on my 92 Dodge Grand Caravan stopped working over the past two days. Two days ago it seemed to be fine. Yesterday it indicated that I had a quarter tank when it should have been 3/4 like the...

worth checking the fuel tank for holes or there might be some fuel delivery pipes leaking badly. Or it might be an O2 sensor not giving correct signal to ecu thus consuming so much fuel.

Where is the rollover switch on the fuel line, and where is it located in a 1990 Plymouth Voyager. Van hasn't been driven in about 6 years. Fuel pump was working ,now it isn't. It is a EFI...

The switch is a check valve. no electrical to it. It is located on top of the tank. Try hitting the bottom of the tank. if the fuel pump starts working then replace the pump.

A friend put oil into a gas tank I used to fill my truck up. Truck won't start but it keeps turning trying to. Now I believe the fuel injector is clogged or dirty and is keeping my truck from starting....

yeah sound like your fuel injectors are clogged...I would first change and the fuel filters and go to wal mart and buy "sea foam" fuel injector cleaner its in a white and red metal can this stuff is awesome!...and add it too a full tank of gas run the vehicle till the gas tank is empty..if this doesn't fix it you will need to flush out the entire fuel system and flush out the fuel tank

My 1992 toyota mr2 (non turbo) has been sitting for over a year. It was nearly out of gas when I parked it where it has been sitting. Now Im trying to get it started and wondering if the fuel injectors...

Pull the fuel tank and flush it out with clean fuel also flush the fuel system (replace fuel filter) and install fresh fuel, the injectors will likely be ok, the fuel pump is another question, make sure it is providing pressure.

Won't start after sitting for years. Replaced battery. Turns over but will not start

What about fuel? Was fuel in the tank when the car was parked years ago? If so, the system has to be flushed and cleaned out, from and including the gas tank to the carb or injectors (all fuel lines). Have you checked for fuel and spark?
