While I am sure you can splice in, most vehicles have a wiring harness arrangement that allows you to buy a special harness, disconnect a connector, plug this new harness in, and voila, you have trailer wiring.

That would be a better method with less chance for failure.

Which fuse controls the trailer light plug in on my 2008 ford f250 5.4

The trailer light connector is spliced into the brake and running lites in the harness where it runs out the rear frame on the drivers side. Check for frayed or broken wires that may touch the frame before you replace a fuse. the fuse is the same for the lights with or without the trailer plug. Owners manual will show you where the fuses are located.

Is a special "powered" module

I would use a Curt 56024 T-Connector Kit. This lets you connect the wiring kit without needing to splice any wires.

Wiring a seven way trailer plug to a 2004 dodge ram

The easiest thing to do, without having to cut a single wire is to purchase a trailer light kit, available at autozone or any well supplied auto parts store. They simply plug right in the the electrical harness behind the taillight assembly and takes about ten minutes with no guess work.....you'll never have to cut another wire or splice another wire again....just a thought.

I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 5.2 ltr. It has a 6-way round set up. My trailer has a 7-way flat wiring harness. I need to know if i have to rewire my intire truck or if there is an adapter that i can splice...

I had an odd type of fixture on my trailer too. I went to Tractor Supply and bought an adapter. I would imagine the brand of trailer you have should make adapter "PIGS" for what they sell. An RV parts outlet should carry something for you too.

Another place which may be able to help you is "U-Haul". They used to install trailer hitches and put permanent wiring into vehicles for an additional fee when renting their stuff.

I need the wiring code for a 2008 grand caravan so I can install a trailer hitch. How can I get this info?

You can buy an adapter that will go in between your rear lights & main harness under van at connector, that will allow you to hook it up correctly. If it's a small trailer & no brakes on it, you may get a way with a flat 4 connection, provided your signals & brakes light use same bulb, otherwise you will need a small inline converter wired in also. Get back if you need more clarification. If only flat 4 and no brakes req'd, you can splice in to wires inside rear hatch that go to tailights. You decide & let me know if you need help. P.S. All you need is a test light (12v) and some connectors.

Trailer wiring 7 way

dO NOT SPLICE WIRES.. You bought a 45000 dollar truck, spring for a wiring T --25 bucks.. ( plugs between main harness and Tail lights.. ) --Available at most good auto parts.. Painless wiring also has a kit.

If you did already cut or splice into your wires, take that **** loose.. Shrink wrap the dammage.. Silicone over srink wrap.. Wire will corrode.. if you did manage to get spliced wires to work,-- in a few years or sooner you will have issues with the connections..Can you say short circuit.. Moisture and loose connections are a thing of the past with sealed tap in wiring.. Plug and play..

If any of this is over your head, get a friend who knows, or a tech to help.. Don't jerry rig a 45,000 dollar new Truck.. Come ON..!!!!!

Jeep 2008 unlimted trailer wiring

I just bought a wiring adapter from mopar for this. you take off the rear tail light on the drivers side and unplug it from its harness. the mopar wiring kit i bought plugs into the wiring from the car and has two outputs on it. one for the tail light and a longer one that will run down thru the frame and come out under the bottom by the bumper in just the right spot. i has the plastic clips in just the right spots for snapping into the frame underneath too. took me 5 min to install no splicing required. i got mine off ebay for about $20. super easy! good luck!
